Glencruitten Golf Course is James Braid's hidden gem nestling among the hills of Glencruitten Estate on the outskirts of Oban, Argyll, Scotland. Flora and fauna abound on the course and in the spring and early summer it's a splash of colour with the pale-blue iridescence of the harebells and the violent patches of yellow of the whins.
There are mature trees throughout the course and in particular there are two fine specimens of the native Scots Pine of the ancient Caledonian Forest which are protected by Tree Preservation Orders. A considerable amount of new planting has been undertaken and the benefits are yet to come. Among the fauna, Buzzards are a regular sighting, as are Pheasants, Heron and Deer.

After running past this yesterday, and being a keen golfer, I had to play this. What a superb course! Absolutely magic. The greens were so true and all the holes have been built into the hilly landscape. You need to be fit. Is challenging but beautiful. I will definitely come back and play again. If you love golf you'd be a fool not to pop round this!

Lots of fun to play and very convenient to Oban. Par 4's are short, with several par 3's long. Change in elevation (and I expect some typical strong breeze) make club selection interesting. For the price, the course is in very good shape. However, if you are out to shoot your best score, this might not be your favorite course (without previous play) as there are some blind shots and no yardage markers.
