Services
There has always been an established butchers shop in Knott End on Sea serving the local community. Eric & Charlotte Danson took over The Hindquarter in 2004 and set about bringing it up to date. A major refurbishment in 2007 provided an inspiring environment in which to shop.
Both from a farming background with qualifications in agriculture and animal science, they have the technical knowledge and expertise to provide customers with premium quality products for their meals.Our philosophy being committed to locally sourced prime meats from real farms. Our prepared meals change on a weekly basis, they are brilliant if you want something quick, easy and full of flavour! A selection of top quality Lancashire Meat Hampers filled with a variety of our best selling and most popular produce. Succulent and full of flavour and with a variety of flavours, you will find a Lancashire sausage for any occasion!
Succulent and full of flavour - our sausages are handmade with care by our butchers using only the finest ingredients. Fresh local Lancashire pork shoulder and belly are combined with specially selected seasonings to our own recipes to produce our tasty bangers. With a variety of flavours you will find a sausage for any occasion!
A flexible family favourite, we have something for every bacon lover! We cure locally produced pork on the premises at The Hindquarter which makes our secret recipe dry cured bacon. Available in back, middle or streaky. Our smoked bacon is smoked at The Port of Lancaster Smokehouse at Glasson Dock using traditional methods.
At The Hindquarter we produce our own beef on our farm. Our suckler bred heifers are finished on a special diet which is mixed on farm. All the feed ingredients are home grown, giving us total control over what the feed contains. We use a local abattoir to minimise any stress to the animals. The special diet fed increases the tenderness and flavour of the meat.

Helpful and friendly staff, large selection to choose from, and locally sourced. The minced beef was a gorgeous deep red colour when we cooked it. We have just had some home cured bacon and the maple and chilli… sausages for tea, the quality and taste is amazing, and it doesn't shrink to half the size once cooked! We will definitely be back!
