You will be able to drive a Strafford self drive minibus with up to 16 passenger seats using your current car driving licence as long as it's not for 'hire or reward' - ie there's no payment from or on behalf of the passengers. When your car licence is next renewed at the age of 70, you'll need to re-apply for your entitlement and meet higher medical standards.

Disappointing experience.
Booked a VW Golf online only to be told that none were available and that its clearly stated online that cars could be substituted for something else (it doesn't say that anywhere on the site). Was given a newish but dirty KIA instead which was fine but not what I wanted.
They then took a £700 deposit and then hold onto it for "up to 5 days" upon return for some unknown reason. Again doesn't say anywhere that this would be happening.

Avoid Avoid Avoid at all costs. I am just about to start to take this company to the small claims court. The owner / managing director Stephen is perhaps the rudest most money obsessed individual I have ever met. Stephen lacks any empathy for anyone but himself and his customer service skills are beyond shocking. Do yourself a favour and use… anyone else. It all started when I booked a motorhome with the company. On the morning I was due to pick it up I got a call to say the van I had booked was not available and I had to take a much larger one. That was the worst renting experience I have ever had. The car was old and disgusting. The whole experience was massively disapointing.
It started quite well and the pick up was wery quick. Unfortunately I realised it was quick not because the service was good, only because the person who served me tried to get rid of me. Maybe I wasn't the most lucrative customer but I was still a customer. On the contract my personal details were made up and additional insurance wasn't proposed.
Then there was the car. It was an eight year old renault capture (I never had a car that old and I rent cars frequently

I agreed to buy a Roller Team T740 at the price they advertised for well over a month. They agreed via WhatsApp, and then three days later revised the listing putting it up £3k. They then only replied occasionally when I questioned the revised price, still saying it was mine and they would send me an invoice at the price agreed. After over a week despite chasing no response. DO NOT TRUST. The most unprofessional people I have ever tried to spend £57k with! I have now gone elsewhere and had a brilliant experience. Be ashamed Stafford Motorhomes.

Rented a motorhome in October 2020, via online booking. When we arrived, handover was disorganised, was given the wrong vehicle which was much bigger than the requested vehicle. We had paid for bedding but was provided with none, was told to go to the supermarket and purchase our own. It was advertised as fully kitted out and on the advert says '… all kitchen equipment provided'. There was NO equipment whatsoever. We contacted Steven, he blamed covid, but we had no prior notice or contact before about this. We could not take the van and then had to pay for hotel and had already pre-paid

Absolutely disgusting service

The deposit was £1495
We dropped the van back on the Saturday
The woman said all was fine!!!
3 days later
Got a message to say they wanted £1194 for a dent to the bumper ( there wasn't when we dropped it off.)
Steve said he would inquire with the other couple who had rented the van.as they were on their way home from Spain.
Instead went straight to our bank to take the money!!! Thankfully Barclays stopped the payment
We are going all the way to court

Multiple times I’ve booked a diesel auto car and 3 times I’ve been given a clapped out, dirty, badly damaged car. Mini Countryman cooper SD, cracked rear bumper hanging off on near-side, drivers side wing mirror totally smashed and unsafe to drive. Last time I actually walked away, went to choice vehicle rentals, just 2 min walk away and rented a Kia Optima estate for less money and longer duration.
Never got refunded, though was promised refund.
Never book online with these clowns! That is unless you want your deposit stolen!!

Fraser really went above and beyond to make sure our rental was in top condition, immaculately clean and the collection and drop off was extremely straight forward. will definitely be using Strafford cars services again!

I would recommend using Stafford for two reasons, they are good value, and I couldn't speak highly enough of their staff member Alex who was extremely pleasant and helpful. The van itself was grubby but works fine. Watch out for high deposit requests, worth checking before booking. Many thanks Alex, rare to get such excellent service these days.
