Dan's surname, McLaughlin (Pronounced: Mac-lock-lin) originates from across the Celtic Sea in Ireland, however Dan was born and raised in Hertfordshire. It was here that he started to develop his passion for wood, working at a local timber yard on Saturdays and during the summer holidays. After finishing college, Dan worked with a local joiner before the family relocated to Cumbria.
The design stage is crucial in creating a unique piece of bespoke furniture that compliments and enhances your home. For this reason, Dan spends a lot of time with you during the initial consultation; discussing your ideas, requirements, tastes and taking detailed measurements. Dan will then incorporate everything discussed during the consultation into an initial design.
Living and working in the outstanding beauty of Cornwall, it's natural that Dan cares deeply about the environment and helping to reduce our impact on it. Dan's aim is that every piece of furniture he makes becomes a family heirloom, passed down the generations. To this end he tries to produce timeless pieces that will not go out of fashion and builds them to withstand years of constant use.
Commissioning a piece of bespoke furniture or joinery can seem a little intimidating at first, but it is an exciting and rewarding process, where your ideas are brought to life in the shape of a unique piece that perfectly fits your home and your requirements. Contact Dan by phone, email or visit the workshop and give a brief description of what you are looking for.
