The Gelson Osteopathic Clinic
The clinic has had a presence in the Tyne Valley since 1975 and has been situated in Corbridge since 1994. The clinic was set up to offer Osteopathy and Acupuncture but over the years we have expanded to offer a wider range of therapies aimed at helping achieve both pain relief and optimal health. Osteopathic treatment does not target symptoms only but treats the parts of the body that have caused the symptoms.

Osteopaths have a holistic approach and believe that your whole body will work well if your body is in good structural balance. Any pain is a symptom of an underlying problem and should be diagnosed and where appropriate treated. If you don't think any of the services listed above are likely to help with what you're dealing with, don't worry!
Services
Osteopathy is an established system of diagnosis and treatment recognised by the British Medical Association as a 'discrete clinical discipline'. It places special emphasis on structural and mechanical problems of the body, and seeks to overcome a wide range of conditions, disabilities and pains, that result from disturbances of the body's framework and moving parts.
Although osteopaths treat many conditions, most people think of us as 'back specialists'. Back pain is what many osteopaths treat a lot of the time. Osteopathic treatment does not target symptoms only but treats the parts of the body that have caused the symptoms. Osteopaths have a holistic approach and believe that your whole body will work well if your body is in good structural balance.
Physiotherapy with Juliet Sanders is based on the philosophy that evidenced based practice can work with the body's natural healing capabilities to enhance healing and restore function. In addition by exploring specific rehabilitation programmes improvements are maintained, full potential realised and 'beautiful movement' experienced.
Your first consultation is similar to that with any medical consultation for example with your own doctor. The Osteopath will take a detailed case history, which will include any previous medical history. An osteopathic examination based upon knowledge of applied anatomy, physiology and pathology leads the practitioner to an appropriate diagnosis.
Light clothing, such as clothing that you would wear to exercise is much easier for us to work with. We aim to allow patients to remove as little clothing as possible. Occasionally you may be asked to undress down to underwear if necessary. Yes - if you wish, you can have someone present throughout your consultation and treatment.

Chris is amazing. His grasp of anatomy is obviously phenomenal and he is a highly skilled oesteopath. But it's more than that. He's a friendly face who just puts you at your ease. During the course of your treatment, he manoevers you to help release whatever bit of your body is broken. For me it's mainly shoulders. Chris is a key factor in my determination to get better. We know several people called Chris so we distinguish this one by calling him "magic hands". If you are reading this, you are probably considering going to see Chris. Just book. It'll be the best thing you can do to get better

Very friendly caring and relaxing...you are never rushed and the information you are given is very professional. A full history is taken before any treatment begins which is extremely important and reassuring. I have found the treatment to be so helpful in managing my situation so I do not have to rely on medication alone.

My neck was causing me some issues that were starting to control my life. Rachel was excellent at giving me advice and now deals with the odd flair up I have. Other practices I have been to seemed more interested in trying to extract as much money as they could.

Friendly and warm welcome, and reassuring practitioners who tell you what they're doing and why. They listen, they take note of what the client is saying.
