The warmth of the welcome you receive when you walk through the door, immediately makes you feel at home. So you want to sit and stay a while. Its not just me that loves The Canteen, its my dog! Whenever we're walking past she drags me in! Their "doggy pit-stop" gets her every time. I have to say, I don't protest.

I went there on a Sunday morning 10am, there was a queue about 6 tables in front of me. Thankfully didn't have to wait to long and i got my table after 20mins. I wasn't able to grab the seat outside or the one near the big window looking out to the oceon. I like interior design and how they use the retro type bulb. Typical breakfast brunch menu, i ordered an egg Royal and a latte. Reasonable price. Food came very quick. Everything was good classic but nothing to be overtly excited about 😅

Waited over 40 mintues for this waffle. Actually doesn't look waffle. Look at that warm chocolate. They just paste little bit chocolate on the side also waffle wasn't good. Their menu is basic. I mean not to many options so they should be quick there is no point to wait over 40 minutes for waffle. Never visit there again.

A lovely breakfast out in the sunshine! We say out in the sunshine out in front of The Canteen - no queue or wait for a table at 10am on a Tuesday. We had the breakfast stack (delicious and cooked perfectly) and the waffle (hands down the best waffle I've ever had). We also had a bacon buttie - I didn't try this but am told it was great! The staff were lovely and the food was great!

The Canteen Classic Waffle with Nutella, fresh strawberries and banana was warm from the iron.
It was Belgian style and served on an a nice earthen style ceramic plate along with a piping hot Americano. The service was youthful yet good and the music unoffensive and low which really pleased me. Best part is the setting inside a stone fortress with tables looking directly over the pebble beach towards the Isle of Wight. The interior has been made to feel less cold than a year ago. Now I would even consider it cozy.
