Charlcombe Homes
Charlcombe Homes is a private house building company based in Bath. We are passionate about building houses of the highest quality that both we, and our customers, can be proud of. We build a small number of houses each year and have a track record of obtaining planning consents in sensitive locations through attention to detail and appropriate architectural design.

An exclusive development of eight individually designed 3, 4 and five bedroom detached houses. Situated at the base of the Limpley Stoke Valley and nestled below the surrounding downs, the site is within the Green Belt and the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Crownhill is located on the edge of the Lansdown escarpment with sweeping panoramic views to the South East across the Swainswick and Box Valleys and beyond.

Charlcombe Homes is a private house building company based in Bath, run by Directors Alastair Gibson and John Hartley, who are both Chartered Surveyors with many years of experience in residential development. We build a small number of houses each year, generally in the 1M+ price range, operating on no more than two sites at any time.
At Charlcombe Homes we are firm believers in 'benevolent capitalism' and in doing our bit to help others less fortunate than ourselves, as well as supporting local communities. We are very aware that we are privileged to be building houses at the top end of the market in Bath and that all of us in the UK are fortunate to have access to quality housing.
This small development of five individual and characterful contemporary detached houses is approached down a long tree-lined private driveway off Granville Road. The immediately obvious attractions of the location are the panoramic views across the valley to the east and south east, and the backdrop of mature trees surrounding the historic Ensleigh House grounds on the western side.
The slope down from the road on the west to the field on the east has been used to create a small development of characterful and individual houses. The two on the field side, approached via a tree-lined private driveway, are very much in the contemporary architectural style which has been highly praised on the nearby Lansdown Ridge site.
At that stage most of the properties were in the early stages of construction, though there was plenty of information on floor plans, finished specification etc. We really fell for the combination of modern design, modern. We were interested to sell or develop a piece of land at the bottom of our garden.
