Vale Karate
As restrictions have now eased, training is very nearly 'back to normal' we stay cautiously optimistic that we never return to lockdown! During Lockdown; Vale Karate continued to deliver Karate to our members, keeping our membership as engaged as possible. Twelve zoom classes per week, and throughout the times when were unable to train face-to-face, 75% of our members, around 130 students trained regularly!

Sensei Rob has also delivered literally hundred's One-to-One sessions! When we returned indoors, but due to Social-Distancing guidelines, we were limited to the Main Hall, nevertheless, our retention of our membership was amazing! Vale Karate is a family-run professional Karate Organisation established and run by Chief Instructor Rob Copeland (7th Dan) and secretary Cathy Copeland and based at Vale Karate's Dojo at Barry Leisure Centre.
Services
There are a multitude of Karate Clubs out there, so if you're interested in giving karate a go, for yourself or a child, here are a few pieces of advice. Shop around and don't be afraid to ask questions. Watch a class or two. A club happy with what they teach and the way they teach it will have no problem.
If you're interested in trying one of our classes, here's what you do. First message Sensei Rob for availability of classes (especially during these strange times) Preferably via WhatsApp, 07986 872953. If trying a class, wear something loose and comfortable, Karate training is 'usually' barefoot but socks in the dojo at this time or Trainers in the main Hall.
The initial licence costs 45 which gives the licence holder the Karate Uniform (Karate-gi) embroidered Vale Karate Badge, grading record book, insurance and membership of our Governing Body Karate Wales Ltd. We recommend that you wait until you are confident that you/your child intends continuing Karate, around a month or so, before committing to the Initial licence.
We held two gradings during the long lockdown period, as those who trained heroically on zoom deserved to have their dedication and improvement against the odds rewarded. However, now that we're back in the dojo, and training is back to normal, I needed more time to get the standard in the club back to where it should be.
