The Gordon Castle Highland Games and Country Fair was brought back to life in 2011 by the current owner after some 30 years of hibernation. Owner, Angus Gordon Lennox, was approached by Hamish Davidson, former participant and legendary heavy eventer, to resurrect the annual community event. Rather taken by the romance of the idea, it is now into its ninth year and growing in numbers year after year.
By the early Twentieth Century the Gordon Castle Highland Games had become a hugely popular annual event regularly attracting crowds of over 30,000. Thanks to the patronage and great enthusiasm of the then Duke and Duchess of Richmond and Gordon the Games became renowned throughout Scotland, playing host to many famous competitors, including heavy champion George Clark of Banffshire.
The family of Gordon is an ancient clan whose lineage dates back to the reign of King Robert the Bruce in the 14th Century. A castle was first established on the site of the Estate in 1479 by George, Second Earl of Huntly, the great, great grandson of Sir Adam Gordon, who had fought with Robert the Bruce at the Battle of Inverury in 1308.

A hidden gem situated between the River Spey and the Moray Coast, our Walled Garden is one of Scotland's best kept secrets. At almost eight acres in size it is one of the oldest and largest kitchen gardens in Britain and has been lovingly restored to its former glory with a modern design by world famous designer Arne Maynard.

Having worked in the kitchen there, until my first ever visit as a customer. I'm rather shocked at how this place seems to have gone downhill. Angus and Zara are at the top of their game and really do mean well. However after constantly urging my partner to join me for lunch at a place I considered to be the best place to eat in moray. She carefully explained, that it wasn't that great. I had to agree with her, The service, the attentive staff and such a beautiful place is what has given this review it's 3 star rating, if it wasn't for their hospitality or the walled gardens grandeur I had left

Stayed at Quarry Gardens Lodge for over 2 weeks and I couldn’t recommend it more highly! This estate is incredible, the people are wonderful, and the cottage was perfect. It’s beautifully finished, spacious, clean, and cozy. I miss it! I hope to be back again.
The location is also amazing. I hadn’t known much about this area, but Speyside has some of the most incredible landscapes within and nearby. There is so much to do and see, especially if you enjoy the outdoors.
