Jardine Funeral Directors is a 6th generational family business established in Dumfries in the 19th century, which remains at the forefront of the funeral industry. Our motto is "Our family caring for your family since 1862". Our philosophy and exceptional standards of service remain unchanged in the 21st century: to provide an affordable, compassionate and personal service.
We are trusted. Death is a very personal matter. When we suffer a bereavement, the course of our daily lives is altered quite abruptly and consequently, may never be the same again. It is in the first few hours or days, when the mind is numbed by shock, that the help of a sympathetic and understanding funeral director can be invaluable.

The deceased will remain in the care of the hospital until the executor arranges for your loved one to be brought to us, where we will begin to make the appropriate funeral preparations. In this case, the hospital staff will advise you on the next steps, including how to apply for the Death Certificate.

We are sometimes faced with the dilemma of whether to choose cremation or burial, especially if the person who has passed away has not left a will, or expressed a wish for their type of funeral. In those cases, the decision may well come down to cost, and without doubt a cremation is very much cheaper than burial as there is a one-off fee, as opposed to the purchase of a plot of land, followed by the interment fee.
A traditional service with a member of the clergy is always available and we will be pleased to arrange this for you. A civil funeral service is one where the service is tailored to suit your specific needs without a clergyman. Mark and Ruth Jardine are professionally trained funeral celebrants who hold the Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy from Civil Ceremonies Ltd.
