We will only be allowing members to book 9 holes. However, if no one has booked in and the tee is empty you may continue to play additional holes. If you wish to play the course as a NON MEMBER please contact the Secretary to book a date and tee time. BOOKINGS CAN BE MADE BETWEEN 10.00am and 2.00pm weekdays.

The site will also give you latest updated results for Club Competitions and will allow you to check on your current / latest Handicap. We are debatably the Oldest Golf Club in Wales, the course was established in 1875, over 140 years ago, and our aim now, as was then, is to provide quality, affordable golf to members and visitors in a safe and friendly environment.
Services
Pontnewydd is a meadowland course situated on the hillside overlooking the Cwmbran valley and offering some spectacular views over the valley to Newport and the Bristol Channel. The black and white photo below is an image of one of the first club houses built on the site, since the original building, there has been several versions up to the present day club house.
The club has an association with Paul Mayo who can offer coaching and other golfing services. We are a Community Amateur Sports Club, open to the community and our aim is to provide quality, affordable golf to members and visitors in a safe and friendly environment. We are always keen to promote our Club and are looking to increase membership at all levels.
Other items can be sourced through the Club PGA Professional and Director of Golf Paul Mayo he is fully authorised to supply branded golfing equipment from makers such as Callaway, Titleist, Footjoy and Masters. Paul is also available to carry out club repairs and re-gripping, in addition to providing group or individual golf lessons.

Only 9 hole course at present, but it will soon be extended to 18 hole course.
Also a new stud bar is near completion. There is already a large club house. I visited the course at the worst time of the year, so considering the bad weather, it was in fair condition. The members and staff could not be kinder and welcoming.

Found the beer expensive no wkd and such sold here and the chair I was sat in was making some disturbing noises 🙈 so had to swop seats in fear I would end up on the floor.

Have played many a memorable round at Pontnewydd. The members are fantastically friendly, the facilities are brilliant and now they have a pro shop too.
Well worth a visit.....
