Portable Appliance Testing involves the testing of any movable electrical appliance to ensure they are safe to use in any workplace or if accessible to the public. In a let property, school or office this typically includes computers, printers, telephones and kitchen equipment, and in large factories, manufacturing plants or hotels, this can involve thousands of individual pieces of equipment and machinery.
A periodic inspection will check if your electrical installations have any faults that are unidentifiable with a simple visual check. Several faults could occur, such as electrical circuits overheating or becoming overloaded during use. If an electrical circuit is not installed properly - for example, without bonding or earthing to secure the electrics safely - it could potentially lead to a fire or shock hazard.
A trained electrician can also carry out a visual inspection of your property, providing you with a quick analysis of how safe it is. A visual check will look for damaged light switches and sockets, broken cables and scorch marks that result from the overloading of the power outlet. Fantastic service provided. I required a new water immersion heater controller to be installed, as my old one became faulty and was constantly heating up the water regardless of the timer. Martin removed the old Dimplex Controller and installed a new controller. He tested the electrical connections to ensure the issue was resolved and set up the timers for me, all done in a timely fashion. Martin was very professional and knowledgable and I will be using this company again.

I had a rather urgent but small job to be completed, and Lawrence Fairfield was able to accommodate my request within 2 days of my initial enquiry. Great communication both on phone and email, and a quick solution was offered. The gentleman that completed the job went out of his way to do so, he was friendly, polite, professional and worked quickly to resolve the issue. Since deciding to renovate my kitchen I’ve needed a few electrical jobs doing throughout and Lawrence Fairfield have been absolutely brilliant! They were very helpful when jobs needed doing quickly, always arrived on time, super professional but friendly and carried work out quickly and to the highest standard even getting me up and running in time for Christmas! Will definitely use again in the future for any electrical work. Couldn’t be happier with the work they did.
