Over lunch at the local steelworks some 35 years ago, Andrew Dabill and Christopher Lloyd discussed the mutual need for a change in direction. Having previously discussed a gap in the market for a service that provided good quality fencing, Andrew and Christopher found their new venture! Hillsborough Fencing was born and has gone from strength to strength since.
Being family men, their sons later followed them into the business. Constantly evolving, and supplying to both private and commercial contracts, Hillsborough Fencing needed to move to a new purpose-built premises on Livesey Street, Sheffield. These new premises include a large shop, wood yard housing a large variety of fencing panels, gates, sheds and timber.

Hillsborough Fencing has been manufacturing and supplying fencing and garden products for over 25 years. In recent years, there has been a rise in the amount of people 'going organic' and choosing to grow their own foods. Here at Hillsborough, we have a variety of beds, potting tables and frames to make sure you can start growing your own produce in style.

All our 5 bar Entrance gates are softwood, made from a 5ths kiln dried Redwood. These do require treatment before fitting and annually during their life. We would recommend and good quality solvent or Oil based treatment, suitable for external use. The hanging style and top rail are made from 100mm x 75mm timbers, and the Shutting style is made from 75mm x 75mm.
Our Mortice and Tennon Driveway gates are all made to measure, and are available in a range of styles:. The gates are made using a 100mm x 50mm framework, with the rear braces made of 100mm x 38mm kiln dried 5th Redwood. These are half morticed and fitted together using external glue and pins. The frame is then re-bated and a tongue and groove inlay is fitted.

Very good customer service, very good prices couldn’t get cheaper for what I needed anywhere else saved me a fortune when it came to making my fence panels, the whole process from phone order to delivery was 4 days. Even the delivery guy helped unload the van and placed it where we wanted it. Top service thank you, will be using you again for sure 👍🏼

You need to adjust your opening times to the correct times. Rushed over today from Chesterfield to buy wall cladding to finish the front of my barber shop ready for opening after lockdown. Google and Facebook says closed at 12 noon. Arrived at 11.40 to see the gates was closed. I begged the guy at the gate to let me quickly buy just 2 cladding panels to which he looked sympathetic and then said no. Absolutely gutted after being closed 9 months out of 12 and now my big opening will be with an incomplete sign and could have been prevented if opening times was correct
