The Cornmeter building was the site of England's first Corn Exchange over 480 years ago. It's had many uses since then including a brewery. In 1960, it opened as a hardware shop and was purchased as a going concern by us in 1980. Since that time we have gradually changed the business to make Cornmeter more DIY and Interior Design focused.

Extremely helpful and knowledgable staff who go out of their way to help.
A lovely local shop that is quite rare today considering all of the big department stores. Shops like B&Q, Homebase and Toolstation are gradually taking over this market and I am more than willing to pay a couple of quid extra to boost the business for shops like Cornmeter.
This shop is perfect for board cutting too. Planks of wood cut to size.
