As regulated Healthcare Professionals we will continue to operate as normal during the forthcoming restrictions. For an appointment please call 01934 844764. I have been practising osteopathy for some 30 years now, developing my own personal approach to the profession and building a large and loyal clientele along the way.

As well as running my own practice in Winscombe, North Somerset, I hold clinics in several local medical centres. Home visits can also be arranged. Most of my work is arises from personal recommendations, but a number of local GPs also refer their patients to me, and I work closely with orthopaedic and pain management consultants.
Services
While osteopathy can often be all or part of the solution to a patient's wellbeing, effective treatment will depend on understanding the reasons behind their problems.

I always work with my patients, especially before beginning a course of treatment, to understand the potential causes of their condition as well as the possible involvement of other factors - such as diet, lifestyle and frame of mind - all of which can play important roles in the subsequent treatment and rehabilitation.
Osteopathy is a well-established "manual medicine" that many people look to for the treatment and prevention of the pain and reduced mobility which can arise from problems in the neuro-muscular-skeletal system. But it is not just a means of treating mechanical conditions: it is a discrete system of medicine of its own that can be offered - with limits - to help with a range of conditions not normally associated with orthopaedic problems.
An estimated three million people in the UK have osteoporosis. While its diagnosis is usually conducted by a doctor using radiography, many patients will develop symptoms that result in them consulting an osteopath first.

Although osteopathic manual therapy cannot cure osteoporosis, osteopaths can play a key role not only in identifying patients suffering from the condition, but also in offering practical advice on risk factors, prevention and treatment.
If you would like to play a part in improving the way osteopathy is practised in the UK, you can - entirely anonymously. The National Council for Osteopathic Research (NCOR) has established a website where patients can report their experiences online. PREOS (Patient Reported Experiences of Osteopathic Services) is simple to use and accessible via computer, tablet or mobile device at www.ncorpreos.org.uk.
