D Hughes Welding & Fabrication
A 350 tonne moving road bridge assembled and welded on site next to its intended installation location. This tower consists of three lattice box sections bolted end to end with a platform module and roof module atop it- taking the height to around 38m (125 foot) from foundation to top of roof.

The project also included a 39m span suspension foot bridge for public access to the tower, leading to a spiral stair which is welded into the structure for access to the drop platform.Contains both Execution Class II and Class III elements in the design. Since 1984, D. Hughes Welding and Fabrication has expanded extensively, and during that time has produced top quality fabrication over a wide range of projects.
Services
D. Hughes Welding & Fabrication was founded as a mobile welding and fabrication service in 1984 by Dewi Hughes. As the business grew he established a small workshop and continued in general welding but also began to specialise in structural steelwork and pipework. The business quickly expanded and soon began to undertake pipeline projects and ship repairs as well as general fabricating and welding.
D Hughes Welding & Fabrication has continually expanded and improved its offered products and services from 1984 to the present day.

During this time, we have produced and sometimes installed, a wide range of high-quality fabrications, including road and foot bridges, gas circulator enclosures, portal frame buildings and general structural steel, as well as bespoke engineering fabrications such as large industrial gas burner assemblies and bespoke balustrades, railings and gates.
Apart from repairing conventional ships, mainly for Stena Line at Holyhead and other vessels that visits the port, D Hughes Welding were one of the first companies in the UK to carry out large scale repairs to Aluminium Fast Craft. During this period, we became specialist in Aluminium welding repairs, which took the company worldwide on aluminium fast craft repairs and conventional vessels.
One of the most powerful 3D modelling packages currently available, we now use SolidWorks to produce the majority of our bespoke/complex items. Whether it be folded sheet metal, ornate gates, rails, etc. This allows 3D or 2D modelling of steel structures, with advance clash detection and model management features which allow automatic production of accurate fabrication and general arrangement drawings.
