Services
Patisserie Valerie all started with Theophile Vermeirsch (Theo) who was born in Antwerp in 1898. He first came to London with his family as refugees from Belgium in the First World War. During this time, he worked as a pastry chef. The family returned to Belgium some time in 1918 and in 1922 he married Esther Van Gyseghem, born in 1900 in Oostende.
We have a selection of birthday cakes suitable for a variety of ages, including milestones, such as 21st birthdays. For children's birthday cakes, there are girls' birthday cakes and boys' birthday cakes. Find the right birthday cake for the celebrant in our delicious range. Choose from flavours such as tempting strawberry cake or sumptuous chocolate cake.
Cakes are the perfect addition to celebrate any occasion, whether it is a birthday cake, anniversary cake or a simple get together with family and friends, cake is a necessity! Celebration cakes bring everyone together, cutting the cake and serving it in slices makes everyone feel fully involved with your celebration or party!
All our cakes have the option to add a personalised hand-piped inscription message to add that perfect finishing touch. For example, you could put any dates significant to the couple, any quotes or phrases which mean a lot to them, or just keep it simple with their name or 'Happy Engagement' or 'Congratulations'.
Baby showers are traditionally held before the baby is born, giving any mum-to-be a well-deserved treat. Baby showers are the perfect opportunity for a mum-to-be to be looked after for the day and, of course, be the centre of attention. While there are no set of rules for baby showers, it's generally expected that food, including a cake, will be provided.

Awful. Cakes were dry and sickly sweet. Cake sponge was like week old dry bread. Very expensive too! £3.95 for small slice of old cake. They also add on a charge for the privilegeof eating inside. Bill came to £19 for two cakes, two teas and a juice. Will not return here again...terrible!!!

Disappointed!. Paid £4.95 for a slice of Red Velvet Cake which looked lovely and moist with lots of cream (also portion size smaller than previous). The reality was a rather hard cake that had probably been taken out of the fridge a few times before getting to my plate. Not what you'd expect when paying nearly £5 for a slice of cake. Wanted to love it, but sadly let down. However, the staff were lovely which slightly helped with the blow.

Went in today for a traditional breakfast. Bacon so hard couldn’t eat it I took it back to the kitchen and they changed it straight away. Unfortunately this breakfast was the same , poor quality ingredients. I would give this a miss. Such a shame used to be much better than this. Save your money head somewhere else.

Staff very friendly, food OK, cakes are what its known for, getting repairs after being a bit tatty improved the seating, love going to this family friendly place to chill with varied seating and their iconic high tea being very popular
(2019 update) the gradual repairs seem to be completed and its even more popular. Could do with a menu update.

Regular visitor of PV, however, very disappointed as the gateau now is 2/3 size of before. I know you have been in financial difficulties recently, but if your solution of saving cost is by cutting corner on cusumer's cost you are doomed. Mark my words, at least bunch of us would never have girls gathering in PV again.

Part of our mission to find the "best afternoon tea in Oxford", we really enjoyed this place. The tea was perfect. The finger sandwiches were quite flavorful! The only exception was the mini desserts... beautiful, but not so good.

Particularly, I would definitely return, but to have only the tea and scone with clotted cream. This one is also a bit pricey, but the service was really good and I loved the view!

The cakes in this place are not cheap but they are gorgeous. Walking into these shops is like being transported to a luxurious Parisean Patisserie. The seating is often cramped but the good is divine. The coffee though is decidedly average and quality.

If this eatery was a film it would be Forget Paris as if it cakes you are after you might not need a trip to France at all.

I stopped by here in search of some caffeine and some sweets.

There is both a sit down service option or buy and go option- I chose the sit down service option. There is a good amount of space inside for seating and roomy. The waiter was great, he was friendly and gave some suggestions on what to order.

I ordered an iced latte and a slice of strawberry shortcake. The coffee wasn't bad but not amazing. The cake was pretty good but there were some nuts on it that I didn't know about and couldn't finish it off.

We used to frequent this place, but boy have standards gone down, especially in terms of service. Today we (three adults, one child) went in for Saturday brunch. Our waitress got two of our four food orders wrong, and then proceeded to bring us no fewer than five different dishes we had not ordered. One of us had to wait 45 minutes for a simple order, by which time we just paid up, left, and got lunch elsewhere. On leaving we were told that this was her first day. That's fine; we don't expect expertise on the first day, but we do expect there to be someone training new staff before their

A chain tea shop that serves desserts and some simple brunch foods. The desserts are very sweet and probably best shared between two people. Their macarons and chocolates are especially good. Bear in mind that this place should be thought of as a basic dessert shop, so don't go in expecting a french patisserie and delicate offerings.

The staff at this location is friendly though, and there are a range of patrons from tourists to students looking for a place to relax and work. I used to go for their fruit salads which are always a nice treat while studying.

So my experience here today was completely tainted. I was enjoying my tea and almond tart when I kept hearing this constant clipping noise behind me. I turn to see this asian girl clipping her fingernails over her table. I was completely turned off and couldn't finish my tart. Almond slices resemble fingernails too much for my taste. The grooming session probably lasted about 1.5 minutes. Management didn't/wouldn't/couldn't ask her to stop. And, it seemed the only option was to offer us another table. I couldn't finish my food, paid, and left.
Now, I can appreciate

I love the Brits tradition of afternoon tea. It's such an comforting ritual, that same sort of feeling that I have when I have my morning coffee. My husband and I both ordered the cream tea, my tea being darjeeling. It's loose leaf tea steeped in a lovely porcelain pot, accompanied with milk and sugar cubes plus 2 scones and an assortment of jams, clotted cream, and other spreads.

Now, I am no tea aficionado so I couldn't tell you if it was good quality tea, etc. but what I can tell you is that I loved the experience of it.

They have some delicious looking pastries and cakes

Part of the Patisserie Valerie chain and set in one of the picturesque old buildings of the High Street. Gets pretty busy on a saturday when you may have to wait for seats, although they also do takeaway.

A bit too pricey for daily visits IMO but a perfect place to take visitors or for a treat. Lots of brunch-type meals, sandwiches and mind-bogglingly good fruit tarts.
