Antique & Modern
Antique & Modern are based in North London, 10 minutes from Junction 24 on the M25 and we specialise in the repair and sales of all types of clocks and watches, from grandfather clocks to carriage clocks, Omega watches to Longines, Tissot to Rado and beyond. We were established in 1982, by Jeremy Gain (BA, CMBHI), as a clock and watch repairers at a time when the horology trade was winding down due to the development of quartz technology.

In the 1990's the watch and clock trade was hit hard by the recession. We lost many clock and watch shops throughout the UK, including the heart of our industry in Clerkenwell. Most painfully, our biggest loss of all was the clock and watch college in Hackney. The founder of our company, Jeremy, soon felt that it might have been time to call it a day and close the shop or sell up.
Services
We are fully qualified to work on and service all types of Omega watches including co-axials, as well as those from the same stable; (Longines, Rado, Certina, Tissot, Hamilton and Mido). All our watch repairers are qualified Members or Fellows of the British Horological Institute (BHI) and we are members of the British Clock and Watch Makers Guild.
Here at Antique & Modern, our clock makers are experienced enough to carry out professional repairs and restoration on a plethora of different clocks. From grandfather clocks to carriage clocks, springer clocks to mantle clocks, there's little we haven't worked on before. All our estimates are free (House calls will be charged) and also provide free advice regarding the regular running of your clock.
The Omega Brand has its origins in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, with Louis Brandt being the originator in 1848. Throughout the last 150 years, Omega has developed its reputation for revolution and exceptional quality, not least being indicated by the fact that Omega has been the official timekeeper at no fewer than 21 Olympic games.
Rolex has its foundations in 1905, with the pairing of Alfred Davies and his brother-in-law Hans Wilsdorf. The pair started out by importing watch movements from Switzerland made by Aegler. This movement was a small lever escapement movement that already had a reputation for precise time keeping and had a large availability of spare parts.
Way back in 1860, there was a young Swiss watchmaker by the name of Edouard Heuer. He was driven by one desire; to utilise mechanical devices to help him explore that transcendent facet of life that dictates to us all - time. Today, along with the combined efforts of his son, grandsons and great grandson, Edouard Heuer has turned his dreams into reality.

Very friendly and helpful and glad to see that the shop is still part of our local community. One of the corner stones of the village in East Barnet 👍👍

When I visited this shop recently I found the pristine interior lit by abundant natural light; this is certainly not a fusty place. The walls are lined with fascinating timepieces from a variety of eras. I was given a warm welcome and the skilled watch repairer did a splendid job, with which I could not have been more happy. The horologist is Omega-accredited; the certificate stands behind the counter. This means that you can hand over your timepiece with confidence. Highly recommended.

The pendulum of my antique Vienna Wall Clock had become disconnected and I needed an urgent repair. I rang the shop and they asked me to bring it in for an assessment. I took the clock in at 1.30pm and received a call at 3.30pm to say that the clock had been repaired and if I collected it that afternoon, there would be no charge.
Quite amazing customer service!! I cannot speak highly enough of the service we received, and the advice Mark gave in transporting the clock back home. It is now back on the wall, and ticking contentedly. Just brilliant!! Thank you!!

Having recently moved to the area I was keen to find a reputable watch repairer within an hours drive. I am so pleased to have found Antique & Modern to look after my precious Longines Watch. I cannot fault the staff's knowledge and expertise and at such an agreeable price. I can highly recommend the company to competently carry out any specialist clock or watch repairs or services that you require. Many thanks Steve Ward

The worst possible service I have ever come across! Went to fix my wedding ring there and the owners didn't even bother taking to me in person but kept sending a person from the staff to talk to me and answer my questions on behalf of them. That happened at least 5 times during my visit in the shop which I though it was very poor. I got quoted £25 for the job that needs done and was not allowed to pay immidiately but on collection which I thought that it was fine. When I got a call that my ring was ready and went to collect it, the price suddenly changed to £45 which ended up into an argument
