Interserve, the main contractors for the refurbishment of Shrewsbury Prison, approached duRose to replace the safety netting between the landings at the prison with a new up-to-date system, bringing it in line with current regulations.
Once Interserve became aware of our other design and fabrication skills and experience, they asked us to tender for a number of other projects including replacement of balustrades, stairs, gates, fire doors and emergency egress ladders.Due to the prison being a listed building, the work had to be of a similar design to the Victorian cast iron work already in place whilst, at the same time, complying with current building regulations.

The television studio that produces the Gadget Show approached duRose with a unique engineering design problem. The design brief for this project stipulated that the system should be resilient enough to withstand the strain of impacts from pot-holes and general road conditions. The system also needed to be designed in such a way that it could be utilised on a number of different vehicles without the need to damage them.
Due to their extensive experience, duRose are often contracted to provide design and engineering assistance to shop fitting companies. The Vitrine Shrouds were multifaceted "picture frames" machined from solid stainless steel 40mm thick, which when completed weighed 40kg each. After machining, they had to be polished to a super blend-brushed finish.
Highly experienced in engineering design and diverse industrial problem solving, the design team at duRose prides themselves in being able to find a solution for just about all the challenges they are presented with.
