Warm and welcoming, our cafs are located in the heart of Aberdeenshire in the peaceful settings of Udny and Ellon. We offer the best in speciality coffees, teas and hearty meals made from local produce, alongside delicious drinks, home baked cakes and treats. We absolutely love coffee and are incredibly passionate about sharing our knowledge for one of world's most popular drinks.
Our passion has taken us all over the world where we have tried and tested some of the best coffees out there. There is a lifetime's worth of information available about coffee so let's just scratch the surface here with a bit of information about coffee in general and about how we use it.

Services
The Coffee Apothecary is on a mission to help the world fall in love with speciality coffee and we want you to join us! We opened our first cafe in 2014 and our second in 2019 but we don't want to stop there. To continue our mission we have big plans to turn a building behind our Udny cafe into a coffee roastery.
At The Coffee Apothecary we live and breathe coffee! We believe that every cup should be more than just a quick caffeine fix. We take the best small batch roasted speciality coffee that Scotland has to offer and lovingly prepare every cup to our exacting standards. Before the coffee even reaches us, we are interested in the details.
We're Jonny and Ali, the husband and wife team that own The Coffee Apothecary. We met, fell in love and got married in Edinburgh before shooting off on a three year round the world adventure. During this time we discovered what coffee should be, tried so many new, interesting and occasionally crazy flavours and got excited by the idea of running a cafe when we returned to Scotland.
All the food that we prepare comes from the philosophy of simple dishes with quality ingredients showcasing the best of local produce. In the same way that we try our hardest to make sure our coffee is sourced as ethically as possible, we do the same with our food. Unfortunately coffee doesn't grow in Aberdeenshire, but the fact that so much of our food produce does makes this a lot more fun!

Went with my parents and children. I asked for an Americano, it's one of those places where asking for the norm is talking a foreign language as they don't do Americans. I was offered some other coffee, the name I've never heard of. Coffee was terrible, incredibly bitter. The barrister offer to make another coffee with another bean and again it was undrinkable. Kids enjoyed their hot chocolates and my father's tea was fine.

What a lucky find! The kitchen was due to close in minutes but we were lucky to get our orders in. The coffee was yum. The satay burger was luscious and full of flavour. The steak burger similar but for me the take on Croque Madame was inspired and totally delicious. Service was good despite only one waitress on duty who flew around the tables keeping everything going and was well informed about the products.. A great lunch and we'll be back.

We stopped here for a coffee and ended up staying for food.
It’s beautifully and simply decorated - very clean and lots of space between tables. The service was great - attentive and
Coffee is clearly the passion here and there are options for beans and brews. The coffees were delicious.
We also had nachos to share - these were lovely but I think came to around £17 with the BBQ chicken option. It was lovely, but not sure it was worth £17!
The baking cupboard looks great and the doughnut we had was nice.
Overall, it was a nice place to stop but if felt more expensive than I’d expect for

Excellent implementation of covid 19 precautions. Was hesitant about my first time dining out since lockdown, and I was reassured and feeling safe.
All staff was wearing masks, sufficient distance between tables, online menus were a smart way to avoid handling/cleaning menus.
And to top it all off, excellent food and service as always ☺️ as simple as it sounds on paper, the macaroni pie was delicious 😋
