Welcome to the Yew Tree Inn situated in the village of Chalvington in the beautiful Sussex countryside, close to Hailsham, Lewes and Eastbourne. Our marquee is set in the picturesque East Sussex countryside and houses our bar fully stocked with all of your favourite draft beers and cider as well as our usual fantastic range of gins, bottled products, wines, and of course a great selection of spirits.
The heated marquee also provides plenty of well spaced tables for the cooler days. Added to which we have a huge garden with plenty of open space and outdoor seating. Plus there is our children's play area to keep the little ones amused and outdoor toilet facilities for your convenience. Due to the high volume of guests we have on the weekends we can only take bookings from Monday to Friday lunchtime.

Chalvington and Ripe Cricket Club (CRCC) was once one of the main club sides in the country and the grounds at the Yew Tree Inn have been their home since 1762. In centuries gone by, the Sussex county team played here against legendry players such as W. G. Grace. What's more, we have played continuous cricket at the Yew Tree Inn Chalvington ever since, making it one of the oldest continuous cricket grounds in the World!

Had the Roast Chicken Supreme. It was only supreme in name unfortunately. Very average food. Description in the menu didn't really match what came out. Got a few boiled carrot slices and runner beans for the veg. They put Cauliflower Cheese with it which I hate but that didn't appear on the menu. The best bit was when the waitress asked us if we wanted a Baggy Dog.

Firstly I always start with three stars and add if anything is outstanding or conversely, reduce for bad points.
Setting. Its on the Winters edge so the grounds are a bit muddy, the marquee is closed and its all a little sad looking. Nonetheless, the interior was warm and although not covid friendly, theres was ample if not comfortable seating.
Staff were hit and miss. Some smiling, some not. If the food had been piping hot i would have added a star but it was lukewarm. Saying that, i did not hear one complaint about the quality and i have to agree. I would definitely return but not with a group

Brilliant place with a campsite too.
We sat outside in the large spacious beer garden and had drinks and a meal.
The service was exceptional and incredibly efficient despite it being a lovely warm sunny August Bank Holiday weekend. The food was absolutely delicious as was the Beer.
There was a very large marquee outside but because the weather was so good we chose to eat outside. It was a lovely experience and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place. The campsite was large and level and busy but plenty of space and next time we come we may camp if the site is still open in October.

My hen do finished at the Yew Tree Inn a few weekends ago and it was perfect. Band playing, food was good and the option to camp made the rest of the evening really easy. Lots of space. Really happy and have been again since. It's a lovely change for a weekend evening. I really recommend, so much that my Fiancé and his stag group stay the weekend after for his do.

Cosy little pub located in the middle of nowhere in the countryside. Nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of the towns.
Good choice of food and portions are really good. Prices are also really reasonable.
Only criticisms are we were a little cold eating in the conservatory. There didn't appear to be any heating on in there and it was incredibly cold outside with thick fog. There were also a lot of cobwebs in the conservatory which kind of puts you off eating when you question the cleanliness.
