Services
Our administration team - Irene, Mairi, Rhona, Mackenzie, Gayle, Kirsty, Joanne, Julia & Jane along with our Practice Manager are here to keep the practice running smoothly, helping the doctors and patients in the most appropriate way. Atholl Medical Centre employs Julia Connor as Nurse Practitioner and a recent addition of Trish Sanders.
The immunisation team carries out childhood immunisations. Other immunisations are carried out during normal consulting. We offer a range of general and foreign travel immunisations by appointment with the doctor or the practice nurse. If you are unsure, please check with reception, your doctor or the practice nurse.
After 31 years service in Pitlochry, Dr Leaver is due to retire at the end of September this year. He will be greatly missed by colleagues and staff as well as members of the community and we wish him well in his retirement. This opens up an exciting opportunity for a new GP colleague to join our enthusiastic and committed multidisciplinary team in beautiful Pitlochry, Perthshire.
Whenever possible we hold an emergency clinic in the afternoons to deal with problems that require immediate medical attention and which cannot wait for a normal appointment on another day. This is an additional surgery and therefore we cannot guarantee which doctor you will see or give a specific appointment time.
Telephone advice appointments are available at various times throughout the day. If you feel that you may not need to see a doctor but would like some advice, please ask the reception staff for a telephone advice appointment (if you feel this would be helpful). Telephone advice appointments are often requested by the GPs for patients to speak about test results, they are often routine and can be booked up to 3/4 weeks in advance.

I had the need to register as a temporary patient to obtain antibiotics for an unforseen infection. The reception staff I spoke to were very kind and helpful . A GP call back was given and the doctor was great. A prescription was issued and collected with the greatest of ease. I was very impressed with the surgery and care shown. Many thanks to an impressive team.

Travelling cross border from England. Rang to register as temporary residents so that we could be prescribed controlled drugs. The receptionist/administration were very unhelpful. Thankfully the pharmacist who we spoke to went over and well beyond our expections in ensuring that we had the correct amount of medication required for the rest of the journey . The receptions should take note!

I have lived in Pitlochry for 7 years and am just about to move away. This practice has been great. A special mention goes to Dr McCoy, an excellent GP with a great bedside manner. He not only remembers who I am but also many of the details of my life. If probably only takes a minute or two to skim my notes before I go in but this makes me feel like I am an individual rather than just another patient. I have also found the admin staff to be very helpful, compassionate and caring, unlike many medical admin folk who tend to be on the officious side. They are also, crucially, very efficient in the

Lovely doctors - dreadful administration. Everything is ‘computer says no’. They really need a revamp of their outdated systems. Having just moved from a different part of the country I have been horrified by how difficult they have made it to get an appointment when you really need one. Their repeat prescription service doesn’t work and their phone lines are useless.
