Quiet Woman House is a fine period property built c1700 of stone elevations under a pitched slate roof. It is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the West Dorset village of Halstock. The house was originally a single storey building with a thatched roof, but at some point in the past the second storey was built & the thatch was replaced with a slate tiled roof as it is today.

Lovely B&B in rural area. Paul is a very welcoming and attentive host, greeted with Dorset Apple cake on arrival. Clean room, hospitality tray includes chocolates and flask of filtered water. Bed extremely comfortable. Breakfast cooked to order and includes vegetarian option, together with a wide variety of fresh fruit, yoghurts and cereals. Private car park and access to garden. Would definitely return.

A proper little hidden gem. Run by an exceptionally attentive host who greets you in his private off road car park and helps with the luggage (even during this covid period, he wore PPE and adhered to social distancing rules).
The boutique rooms were exceptional to comfort and little details like fresh iced filtered water, chocolates and fresh milk kept cool in a flask.
The breakfasts were first class, cooked to order and individually chosen. Fresh fruits and berries were selected to be the best. The orange juice was freshly squeezed that morning and was as fresh as could be.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Quiet Woman House in February 2018. I can only say that Paul, my host, was a model of kindness and hospitality. The building (and area) is beautiful and historic, and my room was lovely, not to mention spotless. Paul's breakfast preparations were wonderful and right on time. An excellent variety of foods too! I also had numerous opportunities to chat with Paul in the morning and evening; along with the above, conversations with him about England, classic cars, favorite music, and other subjects really set my stay at Quiet Woman apart from the run-of-the-mill

This is an outstanding bed and breakfast in every way. The owner's attention to detail is faultless. The room was pristine, very comfortable and carefully arranged with all facilities, and then some--fresh milk daily in a thermos for tea/coffee being an example. Breakfast was freshly and expertly cooked to accompany a wide range of cereals, fruit, juices etc. Really high quality.
The owner is friendly and helpful and genuinely made us feel welcome, and that nothing was too much trouble.
