The Betty Chappelle Dance Centre have been nurturing and developing young people's potential for many years. We not only deliver quality in performance but ensure that each of our puplils gets the most out of their experience by building life skills and confidence while having a lot of fun and meeting new friends.
Some of our students see dance simply as an enhancement to their lives, others have pursued careers in performance arts and progressed to become professional dancers, but whatever their ambitions or ability, we strive to teach to professional standards. All our fully qualified staff are highly experienced teaching professionals whose performing careers have spanned West End shows, UK and World tours, commercial pop videos, Film and Television.

Tap is a great way to improve a dancer's rhythm and musicality and it is a lot of fun too. Where else do children get away with making noise but in tap class? This popular style is danced around the world by young, old, beginners, professional, men and women. Tap is as popular today as it was in the days of the great Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly musical.
Students are required to demonstrate emotion through interpretation of any musical genre. Classes are invigorating building strength and stamina based on a classical and contemporary technique. Classes are structured to begin to prepare the physical core strength and flexibility.
You will explore contrast between expansion and relaxation or learn to isolate in a slick stylish mood and will learn to develop many different movements reaching to a broad choice of varying rhythms and musical styles.

Do I need to wear a uniform? Yes. After a maximum of one month (to ensure your child is enjoying dance and wants to stay) Betty Chappelle Dance Centre uniforms must be worn to every lesson accompanied by the relevant footwear. Please see our Uniform page for more details. In the interest of safety no jewellery should be worn and all hair should be tied back.

Such a shame
My daughter has been going to Betty Chappelle since she was 3 years old (along with her older sister who also started at a young age, but had to leave last year due to starting an apprenticeship, which clashed with her dance classes). My daughter is who still attends betty Chappelle is now 13 years old and attends two different types… of dance classes. She came to me a few months ago saying she wasn’t enjoying some of her classes anymore as she (and others) were feeling left out and not part of the team. She said Priority was been given to the better dancers and little

I was very angry to find out my daughter had been dropped from her street dance classes in Wakefield on Saturday mornings purely because she wasn’t part of the competitions. She’s very upset to be excluded from the class and frankly I wouldn’t recommend it! Awful way to treat a child simply wanting to engage in a hobby!!
