We have an in-house framing team who will help you choose the best frame & mounts for your picture and then build it for you. When you want something framed which isn't flat we will build a box frame to your requirements. When you don't want a custom frame we have a wide variety of sizes and styles of pre-built picture frames.

If you have a picture, frame or objet d'art which needs restoration or repair bring it in for our experts to review. Gadsby's recently framed a photo montage poster for our parent's 40th wedding anniversary - their service, quality of product and price were brilliant! Love it here, very lovely staff that are very helpful and make sure you get everything you need.
Services
Gadsby's have been Framing Pictures (and more recently pretty much anything else too) since 1898 and we're proud of it. W. Frank Gadsby set up the business to serve the needs of the affluent in Leicester and Leicestershire. Since then things have moved on considerably. Gadsby's now meets the needs of everyone in Leicester / Leicestershire (and across the Midlands) for professional framing, restoration and the supply of arts and craft materials.
Gadsby's have been at the larger and more successful Arts & Crafts shows for over 20 years. Gadsby's have been attending, exhibiting, demonstrating products and selling at the larger and more successful Arts & Crafts shows for over 20 years. Some of our remote clients (the one's not living close to our shop in Leicester) travel around the shows and it is great to see them 3 or 4 times a year.
Pretty much anything - some of the largest things we have framed have needed special fixings to hang! Prior to the 1950's we mainly framed oils, watercolours, charcoal and pencil sketches with a very few photographs. Celebrating pictures framers Groglass, a supplier to custom framers everywhere has created a new song / video to celebrate the work of the framing industry.
Choosing a frame for your picture or other item isn't always straightforward. Many people come into the shop with little idea of what they want the finished piece to look like. Gadsby's experts are used to helping people decide what will work best and producing fantastic looking frames suiting the item being framed, sometimes even taking into account the room / surrounds in which it is going to be hung or placed.
Putting names to some of the major styles - but it is your choice and your description of what you want which counts! Although very open to discussion the general framing styles we find people are talking about are shown here. We try to avoid getting into too much discussion about style because one person's modern is another's classic!

Had the restaurant week menu tonight- great food and atmosphere was wonderful. You really get a sense of old town Alexandria in the days of the early republic.

Had lunch to celebrate a birthday. Katie the server was great, i.e., professional, informative, polite, and efficient. Her customer service was top notch, as well as her recommendations were spot on, and delivered with a smile. I will be back. Oh yeah, had the hot apple cider, good water, peanut soup, fish and chips, the William Caton burger, w/ Swiss cheese, and the seasonal cobbler w/ a scoop of vanilla—and she remembered to bring it with a lit birthday candle. Thank you, Katie! Also, thank you Kitchen for the savory light gourmet batter (I think that’s what it’s called, lol) that you used

Great neighborhood, great ambiance and history, but we found the food to be oversalted and overcooked (duck was dry/tough and the meatloaf had a tough outer layer). We ordered after 8pm, so maybe it was reheated.

This restaurant is a piece of history that should not be missed when visiting the Virginia/DC area. The staff is dressed in period Attire. The service was outstanding. There's a few unusual dishes on the menu and well worth trying. The price was surprisingly reasonable. I'll be back.

The historic ambiance is fun and the food was pretty good if gimicky and overpriced (George Washington's favorite meal, really?). However, our server was really disappointing and lacking. She didn't welcome us, try to tell us anything about the historic significance or interest, didn't bother to tell us about the drink or food specials (rum punch would have been nice to know about), didn't bother to clear empty glasses or appetizer plates or refill water even after finally flagging her down several times to ask, and didn't bother checking to see how the food was after the first few bites. Not just a novelty! The food was very good. The New York strip was cooked perfectly great flavor with absolutely delicious mashed potatoes and nicely cooked asparagus. George Washington's Favorite was also very good I've had duck several times and they executed it perfectly. The corn pudding was also delicious. Our server was polite and prompt even though we took service to the edge of closing. The interior seating was well spaced and such a cool authentic setting. I don't think you definitely won't go wrong visiting Gadsby's! I didn't even mention the crab cakes and fried oysters definitely some

Love the food the place was cute 1700 style. The basement cold be better (lavatories) but food wise 👌 the benedic egg were on a muffins not a typical bread and ham was bland no seasoning not even ham flavor lol . Burgers and tenders are very big nice portions. The peanut aup its a miss base like with jiffy flavor. I like it. The plates come with complementary muffins and butter. The stake and eggs was huge and delightful. Fresh Fruits on the side very nice. I recommend.

Sadly we did not get to go to the museum itself but got to eat at the tavern. It had a really good atmosphere and we loved the ambiance of the place. My husband and I went here for his birthday and honestly quite disappointed. The waitress was really lovely though but the food was just mediocre. I got the the fried oyster sandwich as recommended but I didn't really particularly enjoyed it, the citrus cocktail and the lemon wedge is the only thing that gave it a taste. My husband got the prime roast beef and brie dipping sauce, which he also did not enjoy, I've tried Brie before and loved it but
