I have always helped out at home in the garden and this led me to fall in love with gardening. At home I keep bees and chickens, as well as tending a vegetable and formal garden. From the age of 15, I started a small gardening business for my neighbours, as a part time job. When I left school at 16, I went to Accrington and Rossendale college and studied horticulture level 2.
After completing level 2, I gained an apprenticeship at Myerscough college and I became the gardener at Northcote Manor, a Michelin starred restaurant and studied level 3 Horticulture. My role here was to grow fresh produce for use in the kitchens and maintain the hotel grounds to a high standard. After completing my apprenticeship, I am proud to say, I won Myerscough apprentice of the year.
