Services
Tree removal is an essential part of responsible tree management. Trees can outgrow their locations due to changes to buildings or hard landscaping, and in urban areas can be self-seeded or poorly placed. Edinburgh Tree Surgeons are committed to maintaining the beautiful green environment of our city.
Pruning tree branches will shape the tree, reduce the height and thin the canopy. This works to let more light through allowing other areas of the tree to flourish. While pruning, we always routinely remove dead and diseased wood. This process, known as 'dead-wooding', reduces the risk of deadwood falling in high winds which may cause damage to buildings and vehicles, and helps the health of the tree.
When removing a tree or large shrub to ground level, a portion of the trunk, including the roof structure remains in the ground, this is call the stump. A tree stump can remain in the ground without causing harm, however you may wish to replant, lay lawn or other hard landscaping. We can also level and prepare areas of ground and lay turf or grass seed after removing stumps.
We can provide extra services such as chopping the felled trees into logs for firewood, cutting stumps or disks. Brash and branches into can be processed into woodchip for mulch or compost. For future expansion of our business we are interested in other businesses with industrial log splitters or small mills who might like to work with us.
If you are concerned about garden safety or liability issues to other properties or road users. We can provide a report with recommendations, so that your duty of care under the Occupiers Liability Act is covered. We can provide written tree reports, arboricultural impact assessments of proposed works and more in depth planning reports to BS5837: 2012.

Edinburgh Tree Surgeons pruned a fairly out-of-shape tree and removed two old shrubs in my back garden. From first contact to quote and scheduling the work, to execution it was very efficient, excellent value for money and high quality. Could not have wished for a better job to be done and planning to commission some further work shortly.

We asked Edinburgh Tree Surgeons to prune a medium-sized birch tree for us and we’re delighted with the result. They worked carefully to reduce the height and width of the tree but keep its natural shape. We were particularly appreciative of the way Harry and his colleague worked together to ensure that our neighbours’ plants weren’t damaged in the process.

Had a 50 foot plus Norwegian Spruce blown partially down in a recent storm. The problem tree got hung up leaning into a Birch tree about 30 feet off the ground. The Tree Surgeons provided a free quote then did all of the work and removal. They brought a large amount of equipment and the skills they showed was impressive. Would happily recommend them for projects and would be equally happy to use their services again.

Huge thank you to Edinburgh Tree Surgeons who saved our little cat's life today, when he had got himself stuck up a 100 foot tree in woods near our house. After we called their emergency number, Edinburgh Tree Surgeons were here within 30 minutes (on a Sunday afternoon) and succeeded in performing an extremely challenging rescue, getting a very… frightened and distressed Sooty down from the uppermost, outermost, branches of this tree. An SSPCA lady also attended and said she had never seen a cat stuck so high in a tree before. Thank you so much, Edinburgh Tree Surgeons.
