Blepharitis is a term describing inflammation of the eyelids and is very common. It is often a chronic condition a bit like having dandruff, which is difficult to cure but can easily be managed with care. It can have many causes, and is classified according to the location of the inflammation.
Anterior blepharitis is inflammation of the part of the eyelid nearest to the lashes and outer edge of the lid margin, and the most common type of posterior blepharitis (in the part of the eyelid closest to the eye) is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction or MGD.A regular regime of eyelid care and eyelid hygiene is essential.

The prescribing and dispensing of spectacles are very closely linked and it would be in your best interests to have your spectacles dispensed where you had your eyes examined. It is more difficult to resolve problems you may have with your spectacles when prescribing and supply are separated.
The College of Optometrists, which is the professional, scientific and examining body for optometry in the UK working for the public benefit, has issued this advice regarding your spectacle prescription. If you have any diffilculty with your spectacles, please return to the practice where they have been dispensed to check they have been made correctly as the responsibility for handling 'non-tolerance' issues lies with the supplier.

You have made me feel welcome and given me personal attention and not treted me a "just another customer" as the big opticians do. The eye examination with Dr. Janua was very thorough, and the team were very helpful with my insurance claim for my lost glasses. I was looking for a second opinion on a drooping eyelid problem as my optician in Alfreton showed no interest.
Call us on 0115 9255051 or email us at enquiries@johnflynnopticians.co.uk to request a call back. Simply let us know when the best time is to contact you and we will call you back. Frequent bus services operate from Nottingham, East Midlands Airport, Derby, Loughborough and other local towns and stop at the Beeston transport interchange.

Very thorough. Very well explained. I'd tried cheap glasses from one of those online places but there's definitely a difference; the fitting after purchase (one of the online pairs kept slipping down my face), the test to see if they're right, basically all the stuff I wouldn't know to look for myself.
Highly recommended.

Having previously got my sight tests and glasses from High Street chains I decided to try the Independent route. I knew I would be paying more, for both the testing and my glasses. I have absolutely no regrets. The standard of testing was far superior. The quality of the frames and lenses on offer were far superior, but yet everything was delivered in a friendly, personable but always professional manner. Thank you!

After years of going to a particular high street chain where my glasses never felt right, I had given up on finding the right glasses. I decided to try John Flynn and can not fault them in the slightest. It turns out I am slightly unusual so had to have a number of eye tests (only charged for one!). Everything was clearly explained and I felt time was taken over me. Long standing issues that had never been picked up were explained and have been corrected. When picking my frames, the ladies in the shop were honest and on collecting them today, I cannot fault the service I have received. Even to

I’ve been going to this opticians for years and there is nothing about this place that I can fault. Dr Janjua was friendly, professional and thorough during my eye test, and explained my prescription at the end so I understood what I needed.
After the eye test I spoke to Wendy and Annette who were extremely friendly and helpful. I’m quite fussy so it took a while to find some glasses that I liked, but the staff were patient and helpful, suggesting different frames and giving honest opinions about what suited my face. They offered to order in a pair of glasses that I liked in a different colour

This used to be a brilliant optician while Mr Flynn was there, I was a client for many years, but since it's been taken over it is dreadful. I was given an appalling eye test which caused me to have double vision, then prescribed extremely expensive glasses which were far too strong. The optician will not listen to what you say, insisting that he knows better than you about how well you can see! The dispenser is pushy and intimidating. It is very sad as the staff that were there during Mr Flynn's time were always polite and helpful. However I will never return to this place again. I am currently

I've been getting my eyes tested at John Flynn's for years, and have recently bought a pair of glasses to help during university. The staff were helpful and friendly, helping me choose what frames would be best and which suited me most! New management is great and everything seems to run smoothly. I turned up for my appointment and went straight in.
Absolutely great service, would highly recommend and will be back again!
