Clements Hall
Clements Hall is opening more fully again in September and a number of our regular hirers are planning to re-start their sessions. We will update our list of activities as bookings are confirmed. We are not currently taking bookings for private party hire. Please note that only the Main Hall is available for hire and maximum capacity is between 30-40 people for the time being.

We will review room capacity limits in October. We can be contacted by emailing enquiries@clementshall.org.uk, and will respond to messages as soon as we can, although there may be some delay. Clements Hall is a welcoming community venue in York, just outside the city walls, close to the city centre and railway station.
Services
Conserved and renovated in 2010, Clements Hall has been transformed into a well furnished and equipped building that offers a range of activities and spaces for everyone. Clements Hall Trust runs the hall on behalf of its members and the local community. We are members of York CVS and Locality, organisations that help support community buildings such as Clements Hall.
Normally, Clements Hall hosts a huge range of activities and events. These range from our regular term-time activities, including classes and the fortnightly South Bank Community Cinema, to one-off events open to the public. Most of these activities are on hold at the moment, but our Spring 2020 Newsletter below gives an idea of what we will do again, when circumstances allow.
SBCC screen films on alternate Fridays at Clements Hall. For all evening showings the bar is open at 7.30pm with the film starting at 8pm, and there's informal seating at tables and a fully licensed bar. Tickets are 4, or just 3 for members (membership is 5 for the year). You can buy them on the door or up to two weeks in advance from Cycle Heaven on Bishopthorpe Road or from the Hall itself.
The community lunch project, previously known as "Food & Fun", is now called GEM - Greet, Eat and Meet. We run community lunches every week on a Wednesday. Clements Hall Local History Group was set up in 2012 to research the history of the community around Clements Hall and to become a local resource for people to explore the area through digitised records of documents, writings and images.
Close to the city centre and railway station, Clements Hall is the perfect location for all your room hire needs, whether it is a conference, meeting, performance, reception, or party. Moreover, in hiring the hall you help to support this great community asset and keeping the building going for the next generation of users.

Not impressed with the female member of staff allowing us access to the venue to drop food off prior to an event. Although she allowed us access to drop the food off she would not let the person organising the event wait on the premises for five minutes prior to the time allocated for the event, even though it was freezing cold outside. Most unfriendly, I certainly won't be holding an event there and won't be recommending it to anyone.

Nice little venue (tardis). Parking is very limited. There's a cut through to Nunnery Lane carpark - approx £2 per hour...

We came here to take part in a baby sensory session which was very interactive and fun. The venue itself is clean with disabled and pushchair access and the toilets are spacious and well maintained. This is a great community space.

The trouble with first impressions, is you only get to make one. When two half-doors at the entrance to a building have signs on them saying "automatic door" yet do not react to your presence, do not have a noticeable "push to open" button, and do not keep themselves open if you open them manually... one starts to wonder if the signs are just an outright lie.
Certainly it makes it bloody hard to get a wheelchair user through the door...
Once you make it through the impassable doors it's reasonable enough; corridors feel a bit cramped but they're wide enough for the most part, at least in the

I recently attended a course here, the building itself is easy to find but there is very limited parking near by as a lot of it is permit parking only. There is a park and ride stop pretty close which is convenient and it is within walking distance from the station. The facilities inside are high quality and up to date but some of the staff let it down.
