This is going to sound cheesy but it sometimes surprises people that Cheddar is actually a place and not just a cheese! The area is famous for both its cheese and the stunning Cheddar Gorge. The gorge itself has many tourist attractions including 2 sets of caves, Jacobs's ladder and many novel shops offering everything from Teddy bears to old fashioned sweets.
The medieval town of Axbridge has a history that dates back to Roman times. At certain points in history the town has been a major business centre in the area but nowadays is a quiet and peaceful place to live. The town offers a variety of shops including butchers, post office, pharmacy, cafe, doctor's surgery, hair salons, a cinema and several good eating establishments.
The village of Draycott is situated just 2 miles outside of Cheddar, on the southern edge of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Renowned for its strawberry growing and popular with all age groups, Draycott offers a thriving, friendly village community and provides amenities including a playgroup, First School, village hall, playing field, local post office/convenience store and public house.
