Founded in 1979 by Arthur and Millie Dowley, we celebrated our 40th anniversary in 2019. Originally, Dowleys was solely a workshop business with a garage on Alvescot Road that handled servicing, MOTs and repairs. We decided to relocate just down the road to our current premises on Norton Way and expand the business the include used car sales alongside our workshop business.
We are an independent Isuzu specialist, our Technicians are Isuzu Master Tech trained, with many years experience and knowledge of the Isuzu brand. Our Workshop is stocked with all the latest software necessary to maintain your Isuzu to the highest standard. We offer all servicing in line with the Manufacturer's recommended schedules, which conforms with the necessary requirements to meet the Isuzu warranty criteria.
Dowleys Garage is an established service centre that has been servicing vehicles in Oxford since 1979. Our state-of-the-art workshop is equipped with the latest diagnostic technology and tools to ensure your vehicle receives the best treatment. We are proud members of the Trust My Garage Scheme from the RMI (Retail Motor Industry) and as such, must comply with their strict code of practice.
We aim to get your vehicle through its MOT as quickly as possible. We provide tests by appointment only, but you are welcome to use or waiting area while enjoying a coffee and taking is some news. If in the unfortunate circumstances your vehicle fails to pass one of the MOT tests, we will aim to fix it the same day (provided the parts are available) and we are very well equipped to deal with a whole range of repairs your test may indentify.
The GB MOT was established in 1960. M.O.T. stands for Ministry Of Transport. The MOT scheme is a road safety measure designed to ensure that all cars, motorcycles and light goods vehicles more than 3 years old are properly maintained. A European-wide version of the MOT based upon the then Member States' minimum requirements was introduced in 1996 (1996/96/EC).

Tried to convince me my head gasket had blown because it was leaking water, with a 1000-2500 repair cost. I did the job myself and found it was not the head gasket at all, but an £11 water pipe had cracked.
As i paid for an inspection, I can only assume the inspection was either not carried out... or they were trying to rip me off BIG time. But based on their inspection (which i foolishly trusted.) I went ahead and took the head off. There was no evidence of a gasket failure what so ever. Only when I took the water pump off did I see the blaringly obvious cause of the fault. In short, I caught

Richard was just a genuine guy from start to finish. I wanted to look at a few cars and arranged a meeting on a Sunday and, even though he got stuck in a bit of traffic and arrived a little late, he was friendly and helpful during the appointment, pointed me in the direction of some other cars that might be of interest and didn't put any pressure on me.
I was honestly going to buy one of the ones I tested when out of the blue an ideal model came up elsewhere. If I am looking again, I'll start here.

I went to Dawleys since they were advertising a car I was interested in buying.
After a call Richard was very quick to upload pictures of the car on the website and also share with me, moreover we arranged a test drive two days later. His son also was very professional (he was with me during the test drive). The purchase was also very quick and Richard took care of all the paperwork, also was very patient to explain to me all the procedures and the things to do.

Excellent customer service. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming. It really feels like a family environment. They always have the time to listen and then provide sound advice. I just bought a car from here and am really pleased with the car and the customer service. If you got a Trike come here, they MOTed mine today and it unfortunately failed on a couple of things! They actually were under pressure with other customers, so initially they couldn’t do anything to repair it and this was bad news as it was a somewhat a 3 hour round trip and so having to come back would of been a real chore as Trike MOT garages are extremely rare in my area! Charlotte the receptionist was honest & helpful as indeed Jordan very inviting when I arrived!
