Birkby Infant & Nursery School
Everyone at Birkby Infant & Nursery School is committed to providing a happy, secure and inviting environment. Children, staff, governors, parents/carers and visitors all feel safe, cared for and valued. We are a large Infant & Nursery School in Huddersfield that serves families from a wide range of cultural and economic backgrounds.

Together we have maintained a good quality of education which has shown marked improvement. We celebrate our richly diverse racial and cultural origins whilst at the same time promoting the fundamental British Values of tolerance, respect and consideration of others. They said that: 'Pupils' attitudes to learning are impeccable.
Services
If you have an emergency and know you are going to be late, please contact the School as soon as possible so that we can inform the teacher and reassure your child. It is very upsetting for a child to have to enter a classroom or assembly after everyone has already started work OR to be left behind after school when they have seen all their friends go home with a parent/carer.
The Government has given every Primary School funding to develop Physical education and competitive sport. Give extra support in PE to our most talented children and include those with special needs in sport. Lastly, we are bringing PE and sports specialist teachers and coaches into work alongside class teachers in lessons.
This short video below shows you how to find the library if you are coming into the Huddersfield town centre via the bus station. The photos show 2 different entrances to the children's library. You can go down the stairs by the main entrance on the left or alternatively if you have a push chair or pram then a ramp is located in the piazza as shown the second video above.
At Birkby Infant & Nursery School everyone is committed to providing a happy, secure and inviting community where children, staff, governors, parents and visitors feel safe, cared for, and valued and where both good relationships and a positive attitude to learning are developed. This year we have embarked on the accredited LPPA so that we can further enhance & develop our working "together" with parents practices.
Always tell a member of staff if your child is worried about anything which may have happened either at nursery or at home. Make sure that we always have an up to date telephone number so that we can contact you immediately if your child is ill or has an accident. Please do not let your child bring toys to the nursery as they may become upset if the toys are mislaid.

My 3 eldest children have attended here, all done really well and I couldn't be more grateful of the support that this school gave us. 2 of my children have additional needs and they have been absolutely outstanding.

"Fighting for an education" I've justed watched this documentary on the BBC. Every child has a right to an education, when a parent has concerns about their child, they should be addressed and not repeatedly ignored and made to feel like they are in the wrong.
Corona virus, was a blessing from above, homeschooling my child, completely confirmed, what we as parents already knew. Our child has special educational needs, I did mention this in year 1, and beginning of Year 2 but to no avail. My child also told me that he used to cry all the time during lessons, as he really struggled, but at no point

I just attended a parent meeting with my sons teacher. I was informed that there are 450 pupils at this school. The headteacher never mentioned this, when he started in reception class, over a year ago.
I must say it has been an absolute pleasure to meet my sons Year 1 teacher, clearly loves children and very professional and he is always talking about her at home.

I had a meeting with the head at 2.45 on 14th of Feb - Miss D Wilson. What an incompetent individual, ignorant and a blatant liar. I made an informal request about behaviour of an parent towards my child!? Lol they have taken 6 weeks to look into and she has escalated it to the fact where I am going to have to take this complaint above her. She was so unprofessional in the meeting I was alone so I had no witnesses but she called my sons dad today and denied all that she said to me? There is a huge problem with Huddersfield’s schools and daycare/ nurseries in general. Please see also my experience

You have to really think about where you send your kids. What kind of people are teaching your kids. The moment kids leave this school, they leave with a secular/non religious mindset, this isn't good, not for the long-term. Very surprised to see how children were left on their own.
