A local family owned locksmith based in Epsom, Surrey, run by master locksmith and door repairs expert John Brewer. Whilst searching for a local locksmith in Epsom you have probably already stumbled across the numerous national lock franchises pretending to be based here. Firstly I would strongly recommend calling a few local locksmiths like ourselves to get some proper quotations for your lock work.
These large franchises are best avoided, acting as middlemen they demand a high premium to find a locksmith in Epsom to complete your work. If your call went through to a receptionist or they didn't sound like they knew the area very well then chances are it was a locksmith call centre. So as a locally based locksmith in Epsom we are offering not only the best rates in Surrey but also a reliable, trustworthy and punctual locksmith service.

Always leave a spare key with a neighbour rather than try to hide it under a flowerpot or a doormat, as these are the first places that thieves will look. For the same reason don't be tempted to hang a spare key inside the letterbox. Taking basic precautions such as remembering to close all windows and locking back doors before leaving the house are incredibly important as thieves will take any opportunity left available to them.
To know which size you have on your door, measure the distance between the edge of the door and the centre of the keyhole. If this distance is 44mm then you'll have a narrow stile nightlatch. If the distance is 60mm then you'll have a standard stile nightlatch.
The following paragraphs only deal with the 'cylinder' nightlatches, not the 'old fashioned' oblong shaped levered rim locks and latches that you may find fitted onto very thin doors in old houses (often internal doors).Rim nightlatches are sometimes referred to as 'Yale' locks, but of course Yale makes lots of different locks and lots of different lock manufacturers make rim locks!

Absolutely fantastic service from John on our uPVC doors, which were practically hanging off the wall. We had been concerned we needed to replace the whole doors but John has secured them and gave excellent advice on future management of the issue. John was upfront about the accurate costs and courteous, with no mess left whatsoever. Can't recommend highly enough, thank you!!

If I could leave a 6 star review I would. John was extremely professional. He gave us really good advice and really knew what he was talking about. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and use him again if I needed to. He doesn't have a call out charge and his prices are really fair . Thank you for your help and your professionalism.

Our front door lock failed (latch was broken) Rang John in the morning and less than an hour later he had fitted a brand new lock. He also changed a defective Chubb deadlock on the same door. Courteous, professional and did an absolutely excellent job. Would recommend highly!!
