They may be painful, ingrown, deformed, pressing into your shoe, thick, discoloured, brittle or may even have a corn underneath them which can cause further problems. Sometimes people are just not able to cut their own nails due to mobility problems or vision problems don't allow them to make a safe cut.
Please Please Please check your calendars and diaries and make sure that you have no hospital or other important appointments before booking a foot care treatment as we do have to charge for a missed appointment or cancellation without receiving 48 hours notice. If you give us at least 48 hours notice then we can usually fill that appointment slot with someone who desperately needs treatment.
How long will a treatment take? Usually somewhere between half and hour and forty minutes depending on the work required. The first visit will usually take about an hour. Each patient has their own unique needs and requirements so there are always exceptions to the norm. Do you work in my area? I am based in Urmston Manchester and work in and around the ring road of Manchester.
If you ask any Foot health practioner, Chiropodist or Podiatrist What makes up the majority of their treatments? The answer will probable be nails that simply need cutting. Perhaps the nail is too thick or hard. Perhaps after self cutting the nail begins to grow into the skin causing pain and discomfort or a patients isn't mobile enough or doesn't have good enough vision to safely cut their own nails.
Corns are painful. They come in different types and have slight differences in their treatment but they are caused by pressure. When we apply pressure to a point on our foot for example by walking then a constant or repeating pressure will cause a tiny piece of skin to die due to it being starved of nutrients by the pressure.
