Amy joined Star House in 2010 following her graduation from the University of Bristol and is now a Chartered Financial Planner and a Director of the company. Amy works alongside Damian to keep Star House running smoothly, with the bulk of her time being spent advising both new and existing clients on all matters relating to retirement planning, tax planning, investments and general financial planning.
Amy has developed particular expertise in advising some of our more elderly clients, particularly in relation to long term care funding. Away from the office, Amy is a keen Francophile, harpist and choir member, who also enjoys trying (and usually failing) to beat her husband at Scrabble. Her last five years at the bank involved helping Premier clients with their wealth requirements.

We are committed to professional qualifications and strong technical knowledge, both for our advisers and for our support staff. We fund examinations, professional memberships and additional training to encourage our staff to add to their knowledge and technical capabilities. We aim to process any paperwork on the day of receipt and will acknowledge that it has reached our office safely.
One of the starting points when determining an investment strategy for a client is attitude to risk - where we consider how comfortable the client will be with fluctuations in the value of their portfolio and their capacity for loss. A key aspect is striving for competitive performance, without taking more risk than the client is willing to accept or afford.
We understand that pension rules are more complex than ever with new legislation on pension flexibility and a wider range of options available at retirement. The need for personalised independent advice is crucial and our advisers have years of experience dealing with everything from simple personal pensions, stakeholder schemes and SIPPs/SSASs to final salary plans, public sector schemes and older policies with a range of complex benefits.
Often, people only start to think about the practicality of long-term care when it is too late, and depending on your circumstances you may not qualify for financial support from the NHS or local authorities. We can help evaluate your situation; determining the support you may qualify for and establishing a structured plan to cope with care-fee costs.
Unexpected life events such as incapacity, redundancy, critical illness or premature death can have a dramatic effect on your family or your business; it is easy to dismiss insurance policies by falling into the mindset that "it will never happen to me". Unfortunately, in our experience these events do happen, and it is important to be financially prepared for any eventuality.
