Academy Vet Centre
Academy Vet Centre serves a large area of South West Scotland including the Rhins, Machars and areas of South Ayshire. We are a well established mixed practice treating both companion animals and livestock.

We have an exceptional team of ten veterinary surgeons who, together with our nursing and admin team, combine experience and expert knowledge with modern, up-to-date ideas and techniques to bring you a comprehensive, professional and caring service at a fair price. We pride ourselves on providing our own out-of-hours service to our clients, so that your animal will always be seen by one of our vets at our surgery.
Services
Images can be stored on a computer and attached to your pet's record and retrieved easily. Images can be transferred between vets for second opinions, sent to specialists or sent to insurance companies. For FREE advice and estimates for the cost of neutering please give us a call or pop into the surgery.
We welcome enthusiastic, young persons (from the age of 16) who are considering a career in the veterinary industry, to come to the practice to observe the work of our vets and nurses. All students wishing to pursue a career within the veterinary industry will require evidence of veterinary related work experience to support the application to university.
Our healthcare plans allow you to spread the cost of the regular treatments your pet needs throughout life, such as vaccinations, flea, tick and worm treatments and regular health checks. Unfortunately house visits, cremations, out of hours consultations and referrals are not eligable for the discount.
We are delighted to announce the arrival of a new Class 4 MLS laser, which allows us to provide new treatment modules for horses, cats and dogs and takes us into the 21st century of care for your animals. Laser therapy or photo modulation uses light of specific wavelengths to stimulate cells in injured areas to increase local oxygenation and cell metabolism which results in accelerated healing at the specific site.
Your puppy vaccination course. The puppy vaccination course requires two injections. The first at 8 weeks and then a second injection at 10 weeks of age. These protect your dog against harmful diseases. At its 1st vaccination your puppy will be given a full health check by one of our vets to ensure it is fit and well.

Everything was excellent, my little dog Dancer is terrified of going to the vets but they were so kind and professional that he's finding it easier.

Academy Vets is a friendly, welcoming practice. They deal with all my dog's and cat's veterinary care quickly and professionally. They have implemented excellent Covid precautions, while still facilitating owners accompanying their pets to help reduce their distress. Highly recommended.

Super amazing staff and vets. I take my dog and ferrets here when they have any problems (or need their jabs).
Would be 5 stars if they had a reptile specialist too but currently they do not (though they said they would be happy to see any reptiles, they don't have anyone who specialises...I've made sure to find a suitable place for my reptiles in the meantime).
Very happy with the prices and they did a great job at staying open during the pandemic. We'll done guys!

My Labrador Puppy was taken seriously ill whilst away on holiday Academy vets were Brilliant they examined her immediately and were kind and very Professional throughout the Operation and the aftercare with Several Phone Calls updating us on her Progress during the following two days.
