We provide specialized services in rail inspection using qualified staff and subcontractors with certified equipment (as required) and systems to assist our clients to achieve optimum maintenance performance for their Permanent Way infrastructure. We provide training and mentoring services to assist our clients to undertake and analyse their own Permanent Way Non Destructive Testing collected data sets.
Familiarization training is also offered to clients who may use our services but only require an overview of the systems, equipment, technology and techniques used in our specified fields. Our clients are from all quarters of the rail market: Private, government and tourist rail networks.

The HANDWave Single Rail Tester (SRT) is an innovative and lightweight ultrasonic rail flaw detection tool with powerful detection, display and processing functions. It's versatile, efficient and time proven technology as documented in case studies by Network Rail and Transport for London. The HANDWave SRT is a single man portable ultrasonic non destructive testing system that is time proven to produce repeatable and effective results.
C.A.T.E.R recommends non-stop testing regimes. Non-stop testing methodology has been used continuously and successfully in the rail industry for over a decade. C.A.T.E.R can supply coachwork from various suppliers or can retrofit to customers' existing rolling stock. The ULTRAWave Rail Bound vehicle is comfortable and spacious for Operators and has the space to accommodate all inspection equipment in a single vehicle.
C.A.T.E.R offer a non destructive rail inspection services to include all ultrasonic rail testing procedures in accordance to Network Rail standards and procedures. This is an all-inclusive survey of the track condition for defects.
A C.A.T.E.R technician hand sizes suspected defects identified by the C.A.T.E.R B-Scan testing equipment and generates reports and required actions allowing track management to prioritise their maintenance teams to repair or replace the rail accordingly.C.A.T.E.R technicians utilise either HANDWave SRT, DRT, or Towed method of inspection systems in a continuous data collection phase allowing for greater distances of track coverage.

The CATER B-Scan equipment has proved reliable, supplying London Underground with consistent and accurate rail defect data that enables informed decision making for the repair or renewal of defective rails.
After four cycles of B-Scan rail inspection on the Victoria Line, the drop off in the run on run defect count is measurable which has led to the reduction in demand for resources to verify the defect data and to undertake intrusive rail replacement. The working relation between London Underground and CATER-EU is open and congenial.
