Links Medical Practice
The doctors and staff at Links Medical Practice surgery in Aberdeen are proud to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare. Please note: following recent guidance our surgery doors are now locked - only come to the Practice if you have been invited by a clinician. Please avoid stock piling medication if you order your repeat medication too early your request may be declined.

Do you have an appointment booked for a check up with a Clinician e.g. a review of Diabetes, Asthma, etc? If so, and you now find you cannot manage to attend the appointment, please cancel the appointment, giving us at least 24 hours notice so someone else can benefit from this appointment.
Services
Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens. 111 online is a fast and convenient alternative to the 111 phone service and provides an option for people who want to access 111 digitally. If you need face to face medical attention you may be asked to attend a Primary Care Centre.
The practice manager is responsible for the administration and daily running of this busy practice. He is happy to hear any comments or suggestions about the services provided. He is responsible for our secretarial and administration team. District Nurses provide care for those discharged from hospital and those who require home care.
We are operating a triage system. To ensure that your request for an appointment/telephone call/home visit is directed to the correct healthcare professional, and to ensure there is adequate time to deal with your problem, reception staff will ask for a brief description of your problem. This will also allow emergencies to be dealt with promptly.
If you are taking drugs on a repeat basis please order in plenty of time, and allow us four full working days from order until you pick the prescription. By Post - The right hand side of your last prescription gives details of your current drugs. Tick the items you require and post the slip to us. If you enclose a stamped address envelope we will post your new prescription back to you.
Medical Students - the practice has been involved in the teaching of medical students from the University of Aberdeen for many years. This means that a Medical Student may be present with the doctor during your consultation. If you wish to be seen on your own then please speak to the receptionist or doctor and this will be arranged.

Reception staff come across as lacking in social skills and can be quite rude and dismissive. They appear to have taken on the role of triaging patients, which they are definitely not qualified to do. Medical / nursing staff are variable in their approach and ability, ranging from good to not so good.

IF YOU HAVE A SERIOUS HEALTH CONDITION DO NOT USE THIS PRACTICE!
I have been dealing with colon related issues for months. They're moving at snail pace while I am getting weaker by the day. I am now unable to work or live a normal life and am pretty much bedbound, I cannot consume any food, I get severe cramps, bleeding, vomit yellow bile every few hours, am always sweating, I have lost almost 10 kilos in 4 weeks and they have done nothing but prescribe IBS tablets, which are not working whatsoever. They are aware of this and just let it happen, no matter how often I call I am told to be patient

Didn't have to queue to get in. Social distancing in place. Busy. Lots of patients. Used to be a nice kind of family doctors but now so busy the docs don't really know you. Lost that 'treated as an individual feeling' ☹️

Not all receptionists here are bad, however there are some bad apples that are seriously the most unprofessional receptionists in the health care system that I have ever experienced. I honestly have no words to describe the way they behave. For those who are thinking of coming to this practice, I say good luck and I really hope you get a different experience from me. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Warning: be prepared to go through rigorous rude interrogations with the receptionist, be prepared to be treated in a condescending way, don't set high expectations to this practice. You will be disappointed

Save yourself the trouble, you deserve real medical care.
4 seperate horrendously failed treatments where more damage was caused:
Been here for two years and never received good treatment. The receptionists get annoyed very quickly always making you feel like you've done something wrong. An IUD I had put in was placed too low in my uterus, so I had a year of constant long and bad periods, (they also didn't cut the threads short enough), arguably the only two things you have to check when inserting an IUD.
Did nothing for my chronic sinusitis every time I go I get prescribed pain killers like

I am delighted with the care my wife received during her long illness. Karen and her staff were to say the least outstanding and always available to help and advise. They never seem to rest and have my full admiration. No idea why this practice gets bad reviews. With the requirement for long term care and they were just amazing. Thank you and best wishes to them all. Norrie Donald
