Ethical retailing is at the core of Yellow Hare's ethos. We strive to reduce waste, increase awareness, avoid plastic where practicable and keep packaging to a minimum. We try to source our products locally; our compostable cups and lids are from Vegware in Edinburgh; 90% of our gifts are hand-made and unique to Yellow Hare; we use paper tissue wrapping, paper bags, paper straws, and cardboard coffee cup clings; we offer free filtered tap water because we don't sell bottled water. Our baking is all home made.
Services
Yellow Hare is opposite the ferry terminal at Gott Pier, sometimes obscured by lorries and vehicles, but always open at ferry times. We are open from April until late September. Although coffee is our speciality we also do a range of speciality teas and lots of home-baking. We stock a wide range of tasteful island-themed gifts which may also be purchased online and mailed first-class to your door.
Our Baking Kit Gift Boxes are not just one or two notches up from the baking packets you might buy off the shelf, they are as far removed from those dry, manufactured boxes as you could get; they are fresher, healthier, tastier and much more fun. Plus, as well as all the ingredients, our baking boxes also include potentially-lifelong-lasting quality bakeware.
Our series of simple yet delicious make-and-bake recipes are all guaranteed to hit the spot whilst taking very little effort at all. The key to all recipes here is simplicity and ease.
On a difficulty-scale of 1 - 10, each of these recipes is a 2. It assumes that the baker will know fundamentals such as the tools to use, that tins ought to be pre-greased and lined (including those that claim to be non-stick) and that the oven should be turned on before you begin.Additionally, all ingredients for these recipes ought to be readily available from your local shop, wherever you may be.
