Melfort Village self-catering holiday cottages near Oban was created as a holiday ownership village in the 1980's. The 32 cottages were restored from the ruins of the "gunpowder village" and farm buildings, and transformed into beautifully appointed luxury holiday cottages, a restaurant, excellent on-site leisure facilities including heated indoor pool, sauna, hot tub and beauty rooms as well as well kept gardens and grounds for all to enjoy.
Numerous cairns, Iron-Age forts and dunes provide reminders of an ancient past, whilst several properties on the shores of Loch Melfort bear witness to the domination of the Campbell family in more recent times - Craignish Castle, Arduaine, Melfort, Ardenstur, Kilchoan, Degnish, and Ardmaddy were all at one time or another the property of various Campbell lairds.
The Melfort Club actively supports CHAS, the Childrens Hospice Association Scotland and Motor Neurone Disease Scotland (MND Scotland). Many people are surprised to learn that a children's hospice can be a happy place, based on love, care, fun and support and backed up by a professional team of staff and volunteers.
The VisitScotland Green Tourism Business Scheme has encouraged Melfort Village in our efforts to provide eco-friendly, sustainable self catering Oban holiday accommodation and in recognition of our achievements we are delighted to have been awarded their Gold Award, the highest accolade in the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
