Lonsdale provides you with concise and reliable information to help designing and specifying glass roofs that bit easier. Follow our guidance and you can be sure your projects will feature safe and weather-tight roof glazing that will give many years good service. Please take a look at the Design & Regulations pages on the website which are likely to answer any queries you may have.

However, if you can't find what you need, please contact our Technical Department where our experienced and helpful team can offer you further advice. NBS H10 is the National Building Specification classification for patent glazing and L10 is more applicable to modular rooflights.

Designed to conform with the requirements of BS5516 2004 Parts 1 & 2 for the design & installation of sloping and vertical patent glazing when installed within the manufacturers recommendations.
Welcome to Lonsdale Patent Glazing and Rooflights, precision manufacturers of contemporary and traditional sloped glazing systems for commercial and domestic buildings. We offer a wide range of aluminium systems for glass roofs for small and large projects. From major stations, museums, shopping centres, schools and universities to modest domestic extensions and bespoke projects, we have the right skylight at the right price.
At Lonsdale, we specialise in bespoke rooflights and have provided overhead glazing systems for many important and historic buildings. Toughened or laminated safety glasses MUST be specified for overhead glazing. Toughened glass is heat treated so that when broken it shatters into tiny small dice that even if they fall are so small they are unlikely to cause injury.
Glass roofs come in many shapes and forms from a small flat rooflight on a typical home extension to a large roof glazing structure on a major shopping centre or train station. A rebated timber rafter is the most basic of methods where the glass is usually seated on a glazing tape and then a continuous wooden capping with mastic tapes clamps the glass in place and keeps the water out.
