Its shop was a famous fixture for over 30 years in Lexington Street in the heart of London's Soho before moving in 2016 to Kentish Town in North London. It takes its name from its endlessly-innovative founder Shiu-Kay Kan, whose track record for lighting invention, consultancy, product development and manufacture, and retail stretches back over 45 years.
During his long career, mainly in the heart of the West End, Shiu-Kay has built up an astonishing "contacts book" and clients of his lighting design service have included celebrities such as Alexander McQueen, Tim Burton, and Annie Lennox. SKK sells mostly Shiu-Kay's own designs, many perfected over a lengthy period of time, which are now icons of the industry.

Initial interaction via email was great and designer was very prompt in creating a draft neon signage . Once design agreed it took me a few weeks to finalise and confirm. When I sent an email to confirm the price of the neon signage had doubled from £500 off to over a £1000.
I questioned the price hike and was given a nonchalant response that the shipping price from China was extortionate and I should purchase from somewhere else if the price is cheaper.
This form of practise is rude, arrogant and unethical.
Please avoid.

SKK is awesome. An amazing array of lights, both designed and components. Shiu-Kay is not only an architect, but a practicing experimental light designer and artist, and takes the time to explain his projects and experiments if you take the time to listen and discuss. We also met his interns, who were very friendly and clearly learning a lot! Looking forward to going back. Drop by for a lovely chat, lighting components, neon art and even a cup of tea.
