It's been a while since we talked about Making Tax Digital and all that goes with it - however the deadline has long passed and we're all still standing! The main consideration is making sure that everything we produce together is available in a digital format so it can be easily accessed, integrated, interrogated and submitted at any moment in time.
With a lot to prove in terms of raising his environmental credentials, the prime minister has announced that the sale of petrol, diesel and even hybrid cars will cease earlier than expected - in 2035. He had previously said it would be 2040 but, a little unexpectedly, he has brought this forward by five years - subject to a consultation.
The grey area of 'off-payroll' applies to individuals who work like an employee but on a freelance basis, more often than not through their own business. It is of concern to HMRC as people essentially performing the same role are paying different rates of tax based on their status as employed or contracted individuals.
