For nearly 50 years our shop at 40a West Street, Alresford has dealt and traded in antique jewellery and for the past 20 years it has been my speciality as well. Every piece that we sell is a 'one off'. We never see the same item twice and that makes life as antique jewellery specialists fascinating, interesting and varied.
The high street is awash these days with ring styles that seem so similar - where is the variety? For lovers of antique and pre-owned jewellery that variety is in abundance and often at prices that are a lot easier on the pocket. Why is that? Well, when you buy a pre-owned ring you are not paying for the costs of production or supply chain costs and margins that feature heavily in the retail prices of new jewellery.

Silver jewellery is very popular right now - we keep ranges by such well known brands as Kit Heath, Ortak, Dew and Tianguis Jackson as well as a wide range of hand made silver bangles.
If you are thinking of buying a diamond ring then come and talk to us first. Rest assured that you won't get the 'hard sell' - flannel and schmooze are just not our thing. What we can promise you though is honest help and advice from a very experienced and highly qualified Gemmologist and Diamond grader.
Emerald is the green variety of the mineral Beryl and is prized for its rich velvety bluish green colour. Key sources include Colombia, Brazil and Zambia. Emerald is most commonly cut as a rectangle with cut corners called a 'Trap Cut' and it is quite usual to see clearly visible inclusions and internal features.

A local business with world-class service. As a family we have used the repair service here on several occasions whether its battery replacement or someting more diverse and we have always been totally satisfied with the result. An example is when one daughter's Kate Spade watch (bought in the USA) ended up with a broken glass and both Kate Spade UK and the high street chain who were its local retailer said it was not possible to replace the glass. D. Barker & Son disagreed and for a very reasonable price made an exact replacement. I can recommend them without hesitation.

Absolutely brilliant service in converting a brooch that is of great sentimental value into a pendant, so that I can wear it rather than keep it in a box. It was a tricky job and Barkers knew the outcome was important, so spent time working out the best way to do it before agreeing it was possible. The result has surpassed my expectations and I am delighted both with the finished item and their excellent customer service.
