Our company was founded in 1913 by David T Shanks. As a farmer he built up a successful dairy farm with the help of his sons George and James and together they diversified into haulage, building up a fleet of tippers supplying building and landscaping materials throughout the central belt of Scotland.
The Shanks operation expanded into turf growing and the supply of soil and garden materials and is now being operated by the third generation of Shanks with David and James Jnr. directing the business with James Snr. still being very much a part of the day to day running of the company. In 2003 Shanks added a landscaping division to the business undertaking the landscaping of domestic property and commercial projects and the management of trees.
