We launched Abbey Pest Control in Reading in early 2018 after previously working for a larger pest control company for many years. Mike eventually decided to venture out on his own as he wanted to offer our customers a better level of customer service than they may get from a larger national firm.
To successfully treat a pest infestation, we believe you need to invest time into surveying the site and identifying all possible entry routes and nesting sites.Mike grew up in Tilehurst and has lived in and around Reading his whole life, he is familiar with the local area and take prides in being a local family-run pest control company.

Services
Abbey Pest Control Reading are an independent, family-run pest control business operating in and around Reading, Newbury and Berkshire. With over 7 years' experience in pest control, and a background in property maintenance, we are fully equipped to help you eradicate any pest problems you encounter.
There are over 15 million rats estimated to be living in domestic households throughout the UK. Reading is a densely populated town with a number of older terraced properties and a major river running through it; these factors all contribute to a large, thriving rodent population.
The brown rat is the most common rat in Reading, Shinfield, Newbury and Berkshire and goes by several different names including common rat, street rat, sewer rat, Hanover rat, Norway rat, Norwegian rat, Parisian rat, water rat or wharf rat.The brown rat originated in China but is now the most common rat globally and can be found on nearly all continents.

Unlike the endangered red squirrel, grey squirrels are a non-native and invasive species and are a prevalent pest throughout Reading and Berkshire. They are mostly herbivorous but will also eat birds' eggs and hatchlings if food is scarce. Grey squirrels can be a destructive and unwelcome guest if they find a way into your home and can cause significant damage to a property if left untreated.
The most common species of mice likely to be found in homes in Reading, Shinfield, Newbury and Berkshire are house mice; they are extremely good climbers, jumpers and swimmers and can fit through the smallest of holes. They range from light to dark brown in colour and, once they have gained access to your property, will seek suitable shelter in close proximity to a food source.
Fleas can be a right pain in the ankles for any home or business around Reading, Shinfield, Newbury and around Berkshire that has pets, especially dogs and cats.
Owning a cat and a dog myself, I know the importance of staying on top of flea treatments to keep any chance of an infestation low, most of these treatments can be obtained from pets stores or your local vet; however, it is still possible for your pets to pick up fleas and they can easily spread throughout your home or business once inside.Fleas can be picked up in a multitude of ways, from pet to pet contact or walking through long grass.

Rural house, small family of field mice booked into our loft space for the winter season... Mike came out super quick, treated the issue without chemicals. Traced back to where they had found a way in and evicted the unwanted guests. Highly recommended.

We were at wits end with a carpet moth infestation when we found Mikes services. It was not an easy job to sort out as we had small pets which meant we were concerned about using chemical treatments in the house. Mikes approachable, knowledgeable and professional service really put us at ease and the problem was solved quickly before too much damage was done. We were also very pleasantly surprised at the price! (another factor why we had delayed seeking professional help for so long to the detriment of our carpets)
