Border Tree Services was established in 1994 by current owner, Johnny Watson, following his completion of an HND in Arboriculture at Durham. The company, based in the beautiful Yarrow Valley, offers a broad array of tree services from hedge trimming to complex felling and supplies characterful timber, seasoned logs and woodchip.

Serving customers throughout the Scottish Borders for over twenty five years, we aim to maintain our good reputation by providing an excellent service, irrespective of the size or difficulty of the job at hand, and the best quality home-grown timber for furniture, joinery and building works.

Services

Tree Surgery Report

Removal of the outermost portion of tree branches or side branches to reduce the tree's height. The woodchip produced can either be retained by the client or we can take it away to be recycled. Our work is carried out to BS3998, which means that we won't stress your trees by removing too much, or by using incorrect pruning cuts.

Firewood & Logs Report

All our firewood is responsibly sourced from the Scottish Borders and is seasoned for two summers before being finished off in the kiln. Unless otherwise stated all our logs are kiln dried and approx 25cm long. Beware Unseasoned Wood: Logs with a high moisture content are frustrating to light, damage your stove and your chimney, and even when taking burn time into consideration they give a far lower total heat output.

Other Products Report

Our partially composted woodchip makes an excellent mulch for borders and can also be used for paths. Eventually it rots down into a good soil enriching compost. Sold by the trailer load. The team were fantastic - quickly and safely taking down a huge tree that had been planted too close to the house. The team cut the tree to use for the fire and also quickly chipped mixed hedge cuttings. The team left the garden and drive tidy - it was like we never had a tree :o)

Previously purchased logs from various places throughout the Scottish Borders, all of which did not burn properly as had moisture. Now purchase logs from Jonny (always hardwood), which are fully kiln dried and burn efficiently. Delivered to home in Innerleithen - great service. Thanks

I would most definitely recommend BorderTree Service's to anyone wanting a tree pruned or felled. professional and friendly service from start to finish. Terrific team of three lads felled, disposed of rubbish, cut trunk for logs and cleaned up the garden and surrounding area like they had never been. neighbour's very impressed lol Thank you 'Treeman Johnny' you have an awesome team of lads.
