P J P Architects
Peter Johnson Partnership was established in 1985, and in 2008 the practice became a limited liability partnership called PJP Architects LLP. Since its inception the practice has undertaken a wide range of public and private sector projects. The practice operates from its own office premises built in 2001 within the North Ness Business Park in the centre of Lerwick.

We consider ourselves to be a friendly and approachable office with a flexible and open-minded approach to design and have forged a good working relationship with a regular repeat customer base. We believe in listening closely to our clients, carefully assessing their requirements and maintaining a dialogue with them throughout the life of a project.
Services
PJP Architects is a highly experienced team based in Lerwick, Shetland, helping to produce high quality, cost-effective buildings which meet our clients aspirations. We help you to make the most of your space. Find out how to get your next project off to the best possible start with the help of an Architect.
Hjaltland Housing Association bought the site at North Staneyhill in 2015 for the purpose of providing new affordable homes in order to meet the high level of housing demand in Lerwick. This masterplan sets out the principles for developing the North Staneyhill site including the indicative route for a road through the site and the areas designated for the housing developments and public green space.
We can provide a full range of Architectural services and the extent of the service we offer can be tailored to suit your particular needs. With the strong tradition of self-build houses in Shetland, our involvement in many domestic projects will end once the Building Warrant for the work has been obtained as clients take the decision to manage the construction process themselves.
The role of the architect will vary depending on the size of the project and the needs of the client. Typically your architect will work with you to define your brief and design the building and will then submit Planning and Building Warrant applications on your behalf. While some clients feel able to handle the appointment of a contractor and the construction process themselves an architect could also assist you with this stage of the project.
Before deciding on a site it is important to gather as much information as possible such as the locations of existing water and electrical supplies and any drainage services. It is advisable to consult with the local Planning Department at the earliest opportunity to ensure you are aware of any planning issues which may be relevant to your preferred site.
