The SBID was founded in 2009 by Dr Vanessa Brady OBE to promote and champion the profession of interior design. By forging regional, national and international partnerships, SBID works to protect, promote and celebrate interior design. Collectively we have the experience, ability and tenacity to create a valued industry voice locally, nationally and around the world.

SBID partnerships represent selective collaborations with various professional, trade and business partners as well as professional bodies, whose interests and standards compliment those of SBID on behalf of its members.
SBID's pioneering Councils were developed to connect specific industry sectors and their body of design knowledge with interior designers. Each Council serves an independent specialist sector. The councils consist of experts in their field to provide expertise when designers require advice. This community helps eliminate error and often leads to new business prospects, ideas and relationships.
