Johnny's absolute passion for the highest quality food and traditional methods for its preparation is a legacy from his Hungarian roots. His father, Dezso Pusztai, arrived in this country in 1956, a refugee from the Hungarian uprising. Settling in Sherwood, he was amazed by the choice of meat, fruit and vegetables available here and soon built a small smoke house to cure and smoke his own bacons and gammons from which to make Hungarian salami's.
The family would gather round the table to savour these while discussing the day's events - a tradition which Johnny continues to uphold with his own family nowadays. His philosophy is that the kitchen is firmly at the heart of the home (and not the TV!) and that is where family and friends gather to talk and enjoy delicious food together.

Brilliant meat selection, best I've found in Notts. Slightly lived up to the name with their service today though, the person who served me came across as quite prickly and unfriendly, just because I didn't want their ground meat for my burgers and prefer to grind my own. People won't use butchers if you make it unnecessarily intimidating to come in!

Outstanding establishment, I’ve recently moved to Nottingham and i was recommended this butcher by a family member who lives in Mapperley.
Having purchased several meats from them i rang this morning to ask where to take my beloved set of Global Knives to get sharpened, they were friendly enough to offer to sharpen them for me, as a token of my gratitude i bought coffee and biscuits for the team, but i just had to take the time to thank them with a review.

Driven past 1000 times and never gone in - first visit today and it was incredible. amazing selection - staff were friendly and courteous actually felt like they appreciated your custom. quality of the produce is great - i wont be buying bacon / sausages / meat from the supermarket again. support local. well bowled guys keep up the good work, see you next Saturday!!!!
